I think he’ll age well. Great skater. Not overly physical.

My ask for Parayko is:

1st
2nd
And I’ll take one bad contract of one year only.

My counter would be:

STL gets the option to swap 2023 1sts with OTT (top 3 protected - moves to 2024 unprotected swap option otherwise)
2023 2nd (OTT)
2024 2nd (OTT)
2024 2nd (WSH)
Zaitsev

For Parayko and a 3rd in 2023 or 2024

If the swap is with the 1st of our choosing we possess?

Nah, would need to be the Blues pick. NYR is too late.

I figure OTT 2nd in 2023 is early (~42nd overall), so the 2nd in 2024 combined is worth a late 1st-ish. The option to swap pick sis worth something even if it's just a pick or 2 difference. Overall I feel the value is close to the ask.

The Blues obviously need a shake up in their D core as players just don't seem to mesh well as defensive partners. Is there any interest in picking up one of these players Parayko, Krug or Leddy with term at the deadline or swapping comparable contracts outside the playoff picture. For instance, Cam Fowler and Torey Krug have similar contracts. Both teams need a shake up adding a piece or pieces to make a deal.
Crazy to think, Krug, Leddy, CP, and Faulk have only played 44 regular season games where they where all in the line up.

Maybe Krug for Mantha or Vrana type exchange
The Krug for Mantha deal has been mentioned on a few boards and in a few threads. With JC out the rest of the season, and Washington with 1 defensemen under contract beyond this year, that could be something to work with.
With Vrana, and Detroit, I think Krug may waive that NTC to play in Detroit.

disagree. ROR is almost certainly being dealt.
Agree, wither or not he returns as a UFA is another conversation, but yeah he is getting moved.

Nurse isn't waiving his NMC for STL.

How about a help each other trade:

To EDM: ROR (50%)+ Parayko (Full) + Acciari
(11.25M)

To STL: Ceci+Foegele+Yamamoto+Bouchard+ Broberg+1st+ Petrov(about 10.5M)
I would absolutely do this deal as a Blues fan, and would even add in a prospect like Tyson Galloway.

Not saying this deal is not fair or is not something the Blues would be interested in, however, you do that deal, you have multiple issues on your roster heading into 23-24
LHD Krug, Ceci, Scandella, Leddy, would account for nearly 17 million in cap space.
Two maybe three of Tucker, Bouchard, Broberg, and Rosen, would be sent to the AHL.

Faulk, Bortz, and Peru, would e your RHD.

I respect you as a poster, but that is a terrible ask for CP. That is decent UFA value at the deadline. Like what I expect to see for ROR. Not a dman with term and a very reasonable cap hit.

this is a mess. ceci and bouchard are right handed and have been playing right side for oil. peru is left handed but can play either side. there is no way bouchard or broberg would in ahl under this scenario.

It’s because of his current play, his back issue and the length of his contract.

His current play has been up and down, IMO. I think it is more the system than the player(s). This system stinks and I can't wait to remove some of these assistant coaches at the end of the season. I don't think he has lingering back issues or at least they don't seem to effect him as much.

Contract - 7 years will take him to 36. I think he will age well as a dman, as he doesn't take a ton of hits and doesn't give any hits - I think he ages very similarly to Jaybo. I also think the cap will go up by 10-15 million between now and the end of contact which makes 6.5 million pretty solid for a number 4 or 5 dman-which is what he will be at the end of the contact.

Fail to see where any value for the Blues is here.

We most likely move back in the draft 4 or 5 spots, or give up our first for an unprotected 24 first?

Along with Parayko and our 3rd?

Hasn’t it been reported that Ottawa was willing to pay to dump Zaitsev?

So essentially we’re moving back in the draft to trade Parayko And a 3rd for 2 2nds? And absorbing the dump for another 2nd?

As a Blues fan, I take the deal and run. I'm also one who doesn't want to trade Parayko. Broberg+Bouchard+1st is too good to pass up. Petrov is a nice prospect too. I don't like all the excess cap going into next year, but I figure out a way to deal with it for those 4 pieces.

Yeah, we get like 3 second rounders And a f***ing cap dump. Terrible value. Not even a 1st Rounder……. Shakes head And wanders off mumbling under my breath
You did see where you’re swapping first right? If I’m swapping the Rangers, first, we just picked up rather than the first we already possess, then I’m interested. Otherwise, I don’t know if I want to do that deal. I don’t know how many spots were moving up. I think you missed the swiping up first.

Yeh, a tough pill for both sides but helps both clubs with where they want to be in near future .. Broberg is apparently off the table for Holland so not very likely..

I have to agree with you. WAY too many D contracts for that deal, but geez that is a lot to turn down.

Terrible return. Sorry a swap isn’t even a first, just a chance to move up. And they top 3 protected it. I get it, rough year for the team, but tossing away value for middling poop doesn’t help us. Compare that off to the Oiler offer. Not even in the same ball park,

Fair enough. I understand your point. I just see a pick up in that window of getting a very good prospect than a next tier down as this draft has a drop off point in the first round in the twenties. I may be under valuing Colton as I don’t know what his market really is. I don’t think any of us know. the contract is a tough one.
