Their excuse is the team was horribly managed during that era. As if the Kings were ever properly managed prior to Lombardi arriving.

So let us look at several things

1) It was a Friday celebration, and people had an opportunity to discuss with their employer about getting time off.
2) You freeze your butt off 5 months out of the year, you look for any reason whatsoever to get outside in June.
3) During the winter you are shut in, so you do sit and watch a lot of sports. There is nothing else to do, so naturally it is gonna be a primary focus of ones life there.

LA will never get as many people as Chicago, but the sport is touching a lot more fans out here.
