I think Horny's been skating in a normal jersey for a while? But they said he's not coming back.

Only way I can see Horny coming back is if Barkov is really injured and the team feels desperate enough to renege on the "Hornqvist is done for the season" stance.

I truly believe Hornqvist's career is done and he will likely retire after this season. He's gonna be 37 next year and there isn't much more for him to accomplish as an NHLer.

This is why I become more and more adamant about not putting any stock in xGA and other analytic models. I think most of them tend to overinflate offensive projections for teams that produce routine saves at high volume.

Also Andersen and Raanta have been fantastic, they're playing like Bob vs Tampa last year. More than enough to win but 3 goals in 3 games. Can you imagine Florida vs Vanacek lmao.

Like unquestionably Bob's been fantastic but Florida has had so many chances as well.

Martinook was lighting it up in the 2nd round. Against Shmid and Vanecek who we already handled and isn't that much different than Samsonov.

Canes offense has always been ordinary and based on volume and chaos (which is puck luck). Never viewed Aho as an incredible talent. They just play hard AF. Maybe having Svech changes things but does it? Leafs have more and better scoring talent and we shut them down. As I posted earlier, it wasn't just Bob.

TLDR, if you rely in Martinook to carry, maybe you are getting your just desserts.

I think he meant of this round. Finals games won't be moved so for people travelling to games 3/4 (if they get there) they'd be around June 7th and 9th (might be June 8th and June 10th if they add an extra travel day.)

So, all fingers crossed it doesn't come to that, but let's say Barkov is out for the series and/or beyond. Who do you play instead? Do you keep Luostarinen-Bennett-Lundell as the top 3 centers and just fill in Dalpe into the bottom six? Do you go 7D despite Fitzgerald/other D not impressing much? Or do you get adventurous and fill in one of the kids despite them not playing with the team before and the Panthers being in ECF of the playoffs; maybe Samoskevich sort of like Toronto put in Knies?

I expect Maurice would make the safe choice and go back to Dalpe despite the huge downgrade in skill; he knows the system, established team chemistry and all that, don't mess with what worked. Probably the best option too among the crappy scenarios, though if we did decide to experiment for a game or two, then no better time than now.

Hopefully Barkov's fine; losing him scares me.

There's also typically 3 days between games when travelling. I went back to check to make sure. So if Finals start on June 3, we can expect games to go June 3, 5, 8, 10, 13, 17, 20

So it's definitely useful and any coaches/teams that shun advanced stats is really short-changing themselves, but I think publicly from the outside, those stats are just another tool.

"Advanced stats" is just additional data which in turn represents another way of approaching at the game. The extra, derivative stats themselves aren't exactly imo a tool but rather the way they are used in assembling a team and strategy. Meaning that some GM might pick the top5-10 players from a handful of adv.stats categories but that necessarily doesn't result into a cohesive team that can win. Kinda like when ppl who wanted Huby to stay on this team could've found the stats that argued that he's better than Chuck but for me at the time it was futile use any stats to prove my point because "Huby-hockey wins" was the reigning thought. It's not about the stats but rather the ideology.

So if you think about it
Last 8 games we gave up 13 goals. If those 11.3 goals went in, we could call it would have been 24?

And in that span there was a Quad OT. Which is pretty much a +1 game. Two OTs that went for about 7-9 minutes and two that lasted 3 minutes which is close to another plus 1 game.

That's about 2.4 goals allowed in 10 games which is a huge improvement for this team defensively
