This is a totally different team than the regular season one. Never expected them to clamp it down like these and win all these close games. This team is so good at 5vs5. Huge difference vs last year in which a lot of points came via OT in the regular season.

I am impressed. 5 more wins to go!

Maybe a contusion to the knee area? He has blocked shots on that same spot before, so maybe that slight knee on knee contact upset it (outside of the left knee/leg). Whatever it is, hopefully they treat it really well and hopefully can play tomorrow

Bob has been great but tbh, none of the chances Carolina get scares me. Inflated shot totals and does not pass the eye test.

Defense has been superb. Carolina did not have one real scoring chance for the final ten minutes or so of the game, including the time spent 6 on 5.

This is why I become more and more adamant about not putting any stock in xGA and other analytic models. I think most of them tend to overinflate offensive projections for teams that produce routine saves at high volume.

Having a giggle this morning at numerous Devils fans saying NJD would have easily beaten the Panthers. That team got absolutely dummied into the shadow realm by a Canes team that is on the verge of being swept by the Panthers.

Yes, please, give us a series against Vitek Vanecek. Our guys deserve to score some playoff goals.

This playoff run is going by so fast, it's hard to really take it all in. Anyone else feeling that?
Same dynamic with the Heat we are playing less games for every series but it’s also a form of denial we all really cant believe this is happening and we are like zombies. But it’s real and it’s going to be something that will grow into the next regular season where games will grow in importance because we will be better there will be more exposure and more teams will be gunning for us.

I think they are useful, but everything still needs to be taken in context. Its impossible to know team intentions and player roles. Models don't take into account score effects and shooter skills.

The public advanced stats models compared to the private models are probably the equivalent to looking at goals, assists, +/- to evaluate play vs. the public advanced stats. Stuff you hear about that gets tracked privately is way more advanced.

I think if you're a team, the data can be way more useful because you know the circumstances behind the plays, who was supposed to do what, and then you can further break-down by video analysis of all the plays. So it's definitely useful and any coaches/teams that shun advanced stats is really short-changing themselves, but I think publicly from the outside, those stats are just another tool.

Also Andersen and Raanta have been fantastic, they're playing like Bob vs Tampa last year. More than enough to win but 3 goals in 3 games. Can you imagine Florida vs Vanacek lmao.

Like unquestionably Bob's been fantastic but Florida has had so many chances as well.

Dude, the whole POINT is to throw them while the Canes are still on the ice.

What a dumb thing to say, maybe he’s a Canes fan.

True. Nobody talks about our missed chances because we win, but there’s been plenty of big saves and missed nets for us too.

I would have paid good f***ing money to see Carter Verhaeghe score 27 goals on Vitek Vanecek again.

Just absolutely laughing my ass off at these Devils fans saying this crap this morning.
