This is going to be harder then the Tampa series. Buckle up. Florida is no joke.

I think boston didn't have the fire power we do in the top6; Florida too only had 2 ppg players in regular season (Tkachuk and Barkov); while we had 4 ppg players in Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares.

But thats where the advantage ends IMO because I think Panthers have better depth compared to ours. Also in terms of D match up they have Montour + Ekblad while we have Rielly + McCabe. They have Gudas and we have Schenn.

So I think our d also matches fairly decently.

I think for us it will boil down to the top dogs out performing their top dogs heftily and our depth no leaking goals. If we can manage that I like our chances

Sums it up perfectly.

All that being said,, I spend about 1 month a year down in Boca and Miami for baseball. I enjoy it there but I have seen a lot of really wacky stuff.

Not the place to discuss politics, religion, or really anything. Keep everything superficial and you can get by

;)

I think it’s hilarious the people on the main boards wanna act like Bobrovsky is still the guy who won 2 vezinas and the better goalie over samsonov going into this matchup

Samsonov, 5gp, 4-1, 2.42, .919 (game 1 removed)
Bobrovsky, 4gp, 3-1, 3.94, .891

They lost their braindead meme jokes, now they are lining up to try for the next thing to mask attention from their own pathetic teams. So they either align towards:
1) The Leafs must win the cup, or it is a choke
2) The Leafs are the worst team left, Edmonton has already won it

Hedging their bets, so they have something to quote later or downplay anything this team does. It is pathetic. I don't care or think about their teams.

One thing that worries me:

Over the last 3 years in the playoffs 5v5:

Matthews/Marner line together:
xGF%: 67.25
GF%: 70.80

Matthews/Nylander line together:
xGF%: 54.63
GF%: 40.93

I can appreciate the argument you stick with the winning lineup but Matthews and Marners stats together are almost too good.

Maybe the belief is also that the Panthers will struggle to contain the Leafs if they spread the talent around a little more?

Let’s be real, there’s a large component of people out there, who even if we win the cup, will find ways to give us no credit

The gaslighting around Samsonov is very weird. Leaf fans keep getting told that Samsonov sucks and is one of the weaker playoff goalies because of his short career history, while completely throwing out his results from this year. Of goalies who played minimum 40+ games, he finished 5th overall in sv%. If you include Swayman and Filip Gustavsson, he drops to 7th, but even then 4/5/6 are at .920 while Sammy was .919 so it wasn't a big difference.

Then everyone says how Vasilevskiy is way more proven and better and Tampa had the goaltending edge, yet Samsonov straight up outplayed him and had a .969 in the closeout game of the series with only 1 goal allowed. People even brought up Samsonov's road record saying how he would get exposed and he won all 3 games there, in OT no less.

Now despite Bob's shit results and overall mediocre playoff record we're going back to his regular season success from years ago to prop him up as a better goalie than Samsonov lol.

They only have one Barkov

Either he plays the Matthews line or the Marner line if we split them up. We have the depth to roll 3 solid lines which I think will be the plan to start the series.

I love how positive this board is right now.

I wonder what an L would do tomorrow, will the debbie downers be out in full force like round 1, game 1?

Youd hope/think that xGF to GF ratio eventually eventually evens out for Nylander and Matthews

Keefe has shown zero hesitation to throw them back together when he sees fit.

Florida won the president trophy

Even with a loss most fans will be fine. We have proven we can come back. Something we usually haven't done well in the past

Also we have won a round. There's that experience and confidence in a lot of players. Especially coming back from 4-1 deficit

Lots of fans will be at ease. But expectations are now higher than ever

Let's be honest, leafs can beat Tampa they should be able to beat Florida.

This is now leafs Stanly cup to lose

One of the reasons I really liked the 11/7 in game 7 was it took Cooper right out of the game. You cant match lines when everything is put together like Ikea. You could also see it fatigue the top guys as the game went on.

I will say it. Tampa is not Florida and Toronto should be looking to win in 5 or less. No reason our snipes cant snipe vs Florida. They forecheck hard and throw the kitchen sink at you but they are not scoring the goals they scored on Boston on us.

The only team that really "scares" me is the Rangers, but if we play the Rangers, we have home ice, so.....

Cup Bound. Crazy to say that, but CUP BOUND BABY!!!

If you rewind to the start of the season, the Boston roster looked pretty old and creaky with the likes of Bergeron, Foligno, Marchand, Krejci all looking like candidates who would age out over the couse of the season. Just seems like Florida played Marchand extremely physically and many of those older Bruins started to look like Mark Giordano, Jason Spezza and Joe Thornton come playoff time.

The Tkachuk, Bennett and Verhaeghe trio looks very scrappy and dangerous, Montour has been high highs and big mistakes. Barkov seems like he's been quiet. Ekblad is a horse. Gudas is a terror out there. Their goalies have been up and down.

Will be an interesting series but Toronto is a very solid team and we just beat a three time finalist. Let's bring all that learning and killer instinct back to Florida.
