I did. I watched them play a terrible Ottawa team that gave Florida absolutely zero trouble the whole night in terms of actually winning the game. A bunch of guys getting misconduct penalties is meaningless. But wait, maybe Ottawa is more serious because they shoved guys after a whistle?

Ok so you didn’t watch the game thanks for clarifying.

I would absolutely run Matthew Tkchuk or Bennett in the first 5 mins. They are going to come in tired and sore.

Make it hurt Leafs
I cant see them being too sore from stutzle bumping into people and falling down

Florida overmatches them physically and they werent even full tilt

I think that's what they mean about not taking things seriously enough.

Our soft defense will be exposed tonight. Nothing to stop Bennett or tkachuk from running our net.
They will be in our goalies grill all night with no pushback

Maybe we watched different things. I saw an Ottawa team that had a whopping 20 shots on net and never once (in the time that I watched) threatened to score. Then there was a reckless play by an Ottawa grinder and a bunch of garbage time penalties. This was the same Florida team that played a similarly lifeless game against Winnipeg two nights earlier. Who knows, maybe Florida was more serious last night relative to Saturday night. Or maybe they just played a really bad Ottawa team.

I was just about to say this. Florida is such a dirty f***ing team. Especially Bennett. I hope Reaves dresses tomorrow night. He will earn his paycheque by bagging him alone IMO

Reaves would earn so much good will if he went up against Florida’s goonery.

It's a regular season game in November. I doubt that Florida will play with much intensity at all.

You didn’t watch Game 1 vs Florida in October when they played the Leafs like they were avenging a playoff loss?

Serious teams play hard most nights and certainly against division rivals whom they’ve met in the playoffs. Don’t take the Leafs behaviour as normative for NHL teams. They are one of a kind.

Or maybe there leaders actually took some responsibility and took leadership roles.
Our best players do not have to fight, but they must not turtle, they must play to win.

I mean he has to be right eventually right...just keep saying the leafs will win and you will be right at some point. The narrative that the leafs are far superior to everyone at all times is getting a little old though.
They aren't far superior to everyone, but they are better than most teams in the conference. Writing their obituary after 19 games is silly. Like any team, they have areas that need improvement, and I expect they will address those areas as Treliving has already confirmed.

Maurice is such a narcissist. When he’s in a press conference or interview he comes across as an actor researching for a pro coach role.
He has really grown into a smug d-bag over time. Definitely changed from the days where he was coaching the Leafs and practically cried in the post-game interview after a crushing loss to San Jose as they were desperately chasing a playoff spot late in the season. JFJ also looked like he was gonna cry.

I know you struggle to believe that this isn't a really good team, but it is. By the end of the regular season, they will be on top of the Atlantic division.
wanna bet? How many times do you have to be wrong to acknowledge it? You tell everyone Every game the leafs will walk all over their opponent and their opponent is so much leeser than. I get being positive but your grandiose statements every game about how elite and amazing our guys are compared to everyone else is meh. And then when we lose its for.... reasons. Being all encompassing negative from some posters is just as meh.

Pumping their tires relentlessly regardless of the on ice product and results is also silly.

No matter who we play, I've never seen the guy say anything other that we're going to win, a statement of fact. And then there's of course the bit about how we take over 1st in January as if that's also guaranteed to happen, then something about this massive streak we were about to go on, it's like a running joke at this point.

Nobody's writing their obituary. What's silly is you constantly saying they will do this and they will do that as if it's guaranteed to happen. You haven't been right even once, has it crossed your mind that you're the one who's looking silly at this point?

What is silly about saying that a 110 point team will repeat that performance?

Say what you want about Maurice - and most of it is bang-on - but his ripping into his team on the bench last year kick-started the Panthers drive to the Cup final.

If Sheldon ever had the stones to attack his team publicly like that he'd be called into Shanahan's office first thing the next morning and two minutes later he'd be apologizing to his players at a press conference. Such is life in an organization where the stars are treated like royalty and everyone must bow before them (and this is the culture set by MLSE, not the players though it's clearly affecting their approach: Being prima donnas).

Probably a clue there on why Florida got so close last year and this team, failures year in and year out.

Would love to see Matthew Tkachuk and Mitch renew acquaintances but doubt Matthew pulls that stunt in November. He did hit McDavid last week which started a scrum.

Shifting the goalposts.

You said we would beat Boston as if it was guaranteed to happen, same with Buffalo, wrong both times. You said we'll take over 1st in January, also unlikely but according to you, it will happen for sure.

For starters, stop saying things "will happen", it's a really dumb look. Then understand that this team has looked mediocre at best for most of the season so acting like we're guaranteed to go on a tear at any moment is irrational.

I will take a bad team that plays with heart over a skill team that plays with no heart every day of the week! I'm a Leafs fan, have been for over forty years, but it is hard to watch this team when they do not play with any passion or stick up for one another (granted, the last few games have been better). But it is so hard to watch Matthews or Marner with their smiley faces when they are in a scrum. Look at Chabot last night, lost that fight, but at least showed some heart and character. Your leaders have to lead by example. Our leaders have shown it works for the most part in the regular season, but the playoff results have shown what it really takes. Still waiting for Matthews and Marner to bring that intensity for as long as they are in the playoffs.

I wish you were on the team then because I dont see anyone on the leafs even attempting this.
Oh but watch how Matthews or Marner would smile at them if they got in a scrum. That sure would show them! smh!
