Trade is simple as that.

To Montreal: Brad Marchand.
To Boston : Max Pacioretty.

Montreal gets another agitator like Gallagher, with more offensive power, but lose a steady 30-40 goal scorer. Marchand got a great year last season, great world cup. Can it get better?

Boston get a sniper to complement Bergeron, whos goal is to put it in more offen. More steady scorer who really havent show signs of going backward as Pacioretty.

idk... I said pacs can get traded for Marchand but we awfully need our proven and consistent 30-40 goal scorer on our team. Plus, hes been tremendous for Galchenyuk.
Also, such a trade would cause massive drama in MTL and we dont need any of that.

Boston literally just announced the extension for Marchand. Why on earth would they do this? Patches is a nice scorer, but his 200 foot game doesn't come close to Marchand's. Bruins hang up and laugh.

lol  No they dont. They at best respectfully decline. And yeah its quite ovbious u dont know anything about pacs. Hes a great player in his own zone, he finished top 5 two seasons ago for the selke, but what do u know? He plays PK and plays great defensively. In fact, he plays on the top PK unit for the habs, their pk was one of the only bright things last season

I agree the trade makes no sense, but Pacioretty would be the definition of a "useless when not scoring" player if it wasn't for his defensive game. He's one of our best penalty killers as well.

As a neutral fan. I would rather have Marchand. He may not be the "natural" scorer that Pacioretty is but I like his overall game much more.

Are you arguing the method in which the GM would hang up the phone?

Sweeney would definitely hang up and laugh. That isn't necessarily indicative of this "wide margin of talent," but the fact that he just re signed him to a very long term favorable cap hit, hes coming off a huge World Cup, and hes probably one of the few untouchables on the Bruins now.

The talent is close (I take Marchand), but Sweeney still laughs based on recent events.

Given the two teams involved I'd wager that Crosby for Ovechkin is more likely (I'm half kidding, but only half).

Besides all of the very obvious fantastic qualities that Marchand has... There's very little that would make me want to lose him & his ability to troll everyone at will for the next 9 years. Pacioretty is great, I would rather have Marchand though.

Neutral fan. I'd take Marchand as much as he annoys me. He just brings so much more to the table IMO.

and tampa gives up a 30/30 guy for a 30/30 guy that is 5 years older because.....?

let me complete :yo:

because... he will cost at least 3.5M less than Kucherov for the next 3 years. Still, they won't be traded one for another ;)

No chance in hell Marchand could pull in Patches.
Bruins can keep the Marchand. He's 28 and only Once scored over 30 goals and will probably never do it again.
Ya lets trade our 35 goal scorer for some random 20/25 goal scorer.
HF your funny.

as a pool player i know pacioretty can get red hot... but ive seen a lot of icecold play too... ive seen his plus/minus drop 10-15 points in a month

im scared of marchands contract

theres zero chance boston and montreal would make such a risky trade though, so this conversation never reaches the point where we discuss value or contract

Doesn't come close? Give me a break. They're two very similar valued players. Both sides decline for numerous reasons.

Neutral fan.

No way does Pacioretty get you Marchand. Equal offensively but Marchand blows Patches outa the water when it comes to the 200' game.

Pacioretty never looked that good last year as compared to the previous three. Not that he can't rebound but it's definitely a red flag - and wouldn't be the time I'd trade for him. I know the whole team sucked but... he's supposed to be the Habs 'go to' scorer and just never looked motivated.
No way he would get you Marchand at this moment.

Are they equal offensively? You should back your statement up with facts, compare their numbers for us please.
