Scrappy win in Sarnia tonight.
Declan Waddick with another goal . 5 pts in 2 games .
Carter George with his 2nd shutout of the season .

16 goals in the past two games .
3 allowed .

Well done .
Good effort. Could quibble over the penalties but overall another win for the Attack. George was really good, and came up with the big stop on the penalty shot to maintain the 2-0 lead. Waddick and Hookey providing some more depth scoring. Great start to the road trip.

Solid win last night.

Sometimes the teams needs these kind of weekends, 12-3 W over the Spits, 4-0 W over the Sting. Yes you're not always going to have picture perfect weeks in this league but those games were both games we played well in. Now the boys can close out the 3 in 3 in Flint with a date with the Firebirds.

Hopefully this time the momentum swing can go our way and we can build off this 2 game confidence boosters we just had with the Spitfires and Sting. Nice to see Waddick finally get going and get on the scoresheet that's past 2 outings, 5 points in the past 2 games isn't anything to sneeze at.

The key thing that is starting to show now is the special teams especially in the last two matches, 1/3 on PP against the Sting and 6/6 while down a man. As well as 2/3 with the Extra man versus Windsor and 4/4 while short an attacker. If they can start to get some consistency with these areas we should be able to make some ground up in the conference and close the gap on teams like the Storm.

Tonight's game will be another tough outing but if this trend continues we should start to see the results.

Finally Declan Waddick is showing some of what I expected. I had thought he was going to come in as a solid 2nd / 3rd line player with a scoring touch but had yet to find the net until this weekend.

Is it possible that with out Barlow the team isn't trying to find him and instead trying to find themselves? I am very interested in what it looks like when he returns.

Ben Cormier finally finding some room and putting in some goals. I've also been waiting/hoping to see more from this 1st rounder.

Nansi also is impressing with the added ice time.

Come from behind on the 3rd game in 3 nights shows a lot of character and conditioning. Those bag skates must have worked.

While I'm not disagreeing about cleaning up the d zone I think there is improvement. 9 periods played 5 goals allowed all in 2 periods that is 7 periods without allowing a goal. To this fan that is pretty decent.

Very impressive weekend for the boys. Hope they can keep it going. I know I've made some strong suggestions to decide a direction and stick with it and I still maintain that. However if this can be the start of a bit of a turnaround then I'm on board with adding for improvement towards this season

Nice game from cormiers line, nice to see him get a couple, I wonder if he felt safe with Hookey and Stewart on his wings, lol.
Good comeback win for them,

Some pretty tough games coming up this weekend. Barrie has a similar record then the smoking hot Rangers Friday in Kitch followed by the 2nd place in the east Battalion. Should make for an interesting week.

Need to win the Barrie game to start the weekend. Kitchener is playing really good hockey but we've also beat them twice this year, they need to play with that confidence that they can compete with them. The North Bay game as the third game in a 3 in 3 is tough but North Bay also hasn't been the lock down D team that they normally have been with 81 goals against. Definitely a big test for this team.

I wonder if they go with Votary against Barrie and save George for Kitchener and North Bay like last weekend where Votary took game 1 of the 3 in 3. Taking 6 points this weekend is a tall task but I hope they come into the weekend with the mentality that they can and should. No games off. All gas, no brakes.

Still think they need a top 2 dman.. a shut down guy.. Sedley isn’t that guy.. but nice little winning streak the boys have going.. keep it rolling this weekend
I don't disagree but I don't think we have the required pieces to make that happen. I think if the Petrovski Sedley pairing works then they can focus on a second pair guy and that may be more realistic. The teams that look like sellers don't really have the D pieces that would be upgrades on our group so it will be interesting to see how that all develops as we get closer to the deadline and who might become available.

I think we need to see a more sustained high level of play from this Attack team before we can consider them buyers anyways. Patience is the best course of action for now.

There's no easy road to an easy road in this league.

All 3 opponents have made for some very good rivalries in the league. Even though Barrie is statistically the weaker of the 3 teams this season never count the Colts out they're a team that always plays a tough outing especially in their barn. The Rangers are having a very good season and have been very competitive this season and the Battalion are still in the mix with a very solid roster themselves.

Having said all that we've been playing good hockey of late and had a very good weekend last weekend to build off of so that's something that the team can use to take that momentum in this weekend and hopefully we will continue to see this team trend forward and make it very interesting in the conference as we approach December and the holiday break.

I think realistically, the 2024 picks need to remain with the Attack. They don't have a 24 2nd rounder but I think the 08 draft is an important follow up to what has been a good 07 crop so use the third rounders for players in the coming draft. That leaves the team with two 2nds and a 3rd rounder in play for an upgrade without factoring in moving a rostered player. Moving those picks guarantees a sell off next year, which seems inevitable at this point regardless, to recoup draft capital. To get a big add you'd need to move someone like Addy or Cormier along with those picks which seems unrealistic. I think you could get a top 4 D with the two 2nds and a 3rd rounder though. It would likely be the only move they could make without moving out players.

Where did your 24 1st rd pick go?

2nd rounder? According to the database Barrie has it. They used it to acquire a Barrie 3rd rounder in 2022 just before that draft.

1st round picks aren't shown in the database as they aren't tradeable until they become players.

That third rounder turned into Carter George. Early days but looks like a great return so far lol.

If Dale is in...we have a first round pick

Might be a moot point anyways as I'm not sure there's a Dman available that would require the first rounder based on the standings. Maybe if there is something bigger out there involving more players?

Personally, if the team can get on track here and maintain it I would be fine with moving anything not bolted down outside of the '24 draft picks. In my opinion they are a seller next season based on the grads after this year so if not now, when? Replenish the draft picks with Barlow, Petrovski(possible OA candidate the following year), Guindon(OA if Montreal doesn't sign him), and Hookey(OA). The hope being that the 06/07 group is ready by then to take on the additional responsibilities and ice time. The team needs to show that they are worth that kind of investment before committing to that kind of a buy, at least for me. If they are middle of the pack as we get closer to the deadline then I think they likely have to sell this year.

Overall, the league is in such flux with a still unclear picture of buyers and sellers that it's tough to gauge what direction to go in. Some of the top teams can't really buy and teams who could buy haven't really performed in a way that would warrant buying. It's probably headed towards the strangest deadline in recent memory the way I see it. Could be that deadline prices are lower than the norm.

Likely adding to the problem is everyone feels that if they get in the playoffs there's a chance they could get to the mem cup because 2 teams get to go.
