Congratulations to coach Walters on being named one of the three head coaches for the U17 tournament. Great opportunity and the Attack have 4 prospects attending camp.

I see they named the head coach for the U18 Hlinka-Gretzky tournament but I haven't seen any announcements on invites for that camp. Hockey Canada posted the U17 invites last week.
Colby Barlow going to U18 camp.

Looks like a nice hire. 33 years old, experience with special teams and skill development. Checks off all the boxes.

Also, interesting to note in the official Attack release that he signed on for a two year contract. Not sure that information is typically part of the release?

The official release also states that he has worked with Colby Barlow in the past as a skills development coach. Nice to go into a new situation with some familiar faces.

What player would you love to see the Attack trade for to help us this season?
Who says we need a trade?

Yes there are always guys on other clubs we would love to see in an Attack uniform, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the GM has to pull the trigger just because others are doing it before the season starts, or even if he wants too.

Most junior hockey managers see their teams in different stages of development. If there is such a deal(s) to be made I would think that the team is well in hand of knowing what the team is lacking.

Right now the roster like all OHL teams have locks that should be no movement guys and guys who will be question marks before the start of next season, and these things will have answers in short order.

There maybe some tweaks as 2022-23 progresses but for right I can't see the management really jumping into the trade pool early until training camp is over and we see who shakes and earns their spot on the roster beyond those who should be locks.

Looking at what should be returning (positional breakdown)

Chenard
Votary

Jordan
Steen
Seed
Sedley
Uens
Okitundu
16yo/17yo

Goure
Guindon
Bryant
Bonaiuto
Petrovsky
Fantino
Lawrence (If Healthy)
Burroughs
Chafe
Barlow
Cormier
Import
16yo
16yo
17yo/trade
17yo/trade

And that's a rough projection of what the lineup could look like. Now like every year season there's always likely to have a tweak and the team may add a piece to the roster to give a player a chance at a fresh start from somewhere else but as of right now that's what the returning core will likely look like by the end of training camp.

We shall see what shakes out by the start of the Exibition schedule but that's a rough idea of what the team could look like to start 2022-23 anyway.

DD typically doesn't hire a AC for longer then 2 years. The league is full of bench staff who seem to either bounce from place to place or are here and gone the show in very short order. If you look at most teams who shuffle coaching staff usually don't stick for more then a cycle (3 seasons) if they're lucky and then they move on.

Agreed, it's good to have your bench staff familiar with current players it makes the HC's job way easier when you don't have to teach your coach as well as your players about what you have to work with when they can step in and know what type of personalities you have in your dressing room.

They definitely will need to upgrade the top D pairs if they want to make a serious run. They could and may very well start with that roster, but adding a defeceman that can play 20 minutes a night and maybe play with Sedley would be a big upgrade. They certainly have the depth to do it.

It's still possible that upgrade comes organically by way of the import draft for internal growth from a young player like a Cal Uens. I'm ok with starting the year with what we have and potentially upgrading during the season if need be.

First off Welcome to the Den Sean Teakle IMHO a great hire listen to an interview he did with Rico Phillips on the OHL site I love Seans attitude. As far as who I'd like I don't have a specific name and we probably should wait until we see who come back to the O as O/As I feel we need a physical stay at home solid D man to replace Wooley and Chibber. We have a couple guys who I feel will fill that roll I'm just not sure there quite ready this season. We have some young bodies we could move that have OHL experience I keep using Hamilton as an example but a couple other teams were older last year and might be shy on experience this year. Right now thats my biggest want that tough physical stay at home guy to shut down the top dogs on the other teams.

does Windsor rebuild this year? Or if Wyatt Johnson comes back do they try and go for it again? Would be a pipe dream to see OS trade for someone with his skill set if he does return and is available.

Yeah it's more DD m/o to aquire that guy as a 17 y/o for a stud and let him grow in Owen Sound but never say never I suppose. It would be a divergence from the norm that's for sure.
FWIW I think you guys have a great core the next couple years so a huge splash might not be what's needed.

Dale DeGray was on with Fred Wallace and said the team is happy with the group they have going in to next season and wasn't planning on making any deals during the trade window prior to the import draft. Any potential moves won't happen now until camp. Be very interesting to see what happens tomorrow with the import selection.

Attack select Defenseman Luc Schweingruber from Bern HC U20.

Luc had 4-G 19-A 23-PTS in 42-GP he appears to have captained Swiss U18 in 2021.

Looks like a good pick up for DD.

Very interesting that they take a 2003 defender. Hoping for immediate impact, obviously.

Concerning that he hasn't played a level above Swiss juniors to this point, but I'm excited to hear more about how this kid plays if DeGray does a radio hit this weekend.

2003 defender seems to fit with the current make up of the D-core. Listed as 5'9" 163lbs on the draft page but elite prospects has him at 5'11" 176lbs. Has decent offensive numbers which would definitely be a nice add in my opinion.

Certainly an interesting selection to say the least with potentially 6 returns plus 1 young guy on the backend and now the import.

The team could look like this. (Possible changes to come)

Chenard (20)
Votary (18)

Seed - Sedley (20-19)
Steen - Jordan (18-18)
Okitundu - Schweingruber* (18-19)
Uens - Rogers* (17-16)

Bryant - Gundion - Barlow (18-18-17)
Petrovsky - Goure - Burroughs (18-19-19)
Tersigni* - Cormier* - Chàfe (16-16-17)
Bonaiuto - Fantino (19-18)

* = New to the roster.

Of course like every season there will definitely be some movement made there always is. But at the moment I don't think the team will likely jump the gun and pull the trigger anytime soon just to say they can.

I think the team is in quiet good shape going into the coming season. Will see if there's any surprises come along in camp but I can't see the team making any huge movement now that will have a loose idea of what the team could look like.
