He was there, looks like he had a leg or hip surgery. If he was not part of the plan, I doubt he comes.

Regardless, no announcement of a contract extension and no real drama about it from what I could see.
I'm not really concerned about it to be honest. I'm more curious if the team clears some of the projected roster log jam in this trade window. It may be more likely they play out the import draft and make those decisions in the next trade window prior to camp or even during camp. Could make sense to try and bring the 03 group down from 5 to 4 prior to camp and then only have to move one in stead of two in August/September. I'm assuming there won't be clarity on the Letourneau/Langdon types until camp so maybe they wait for that to shake out first. Still likely too many bodies at forward without any 06/07 drafted players being added. DeGray said they expected to have three 07s on the team next season so would have to believe moves are coming at some point.

Curious when we will find out who is filling the assistant job. I Feel like it might be soon but who knows.

No idea as to when, but have to imagine they are after certain criteria in the hire. Teakle is relatively young and inexperienced on the coaching side as I believe last year was his second behind an OHL bench. I would imagine they likely don't want a rookie coach. Hill ran the defense so I have to imagine the replacement will have defensive background and likely have coaching experience, which may cost more $$$. They can afford some patience to make the hire so might as well make sure you get someone you're comfortable with.

Thoughts on the schedule?
3 Saturday starts @ 4:00pm
4 Sunday starts @ 2:00pm
Remaining Saturdays @ 7:00pm
The 4pm start times seem strange to me. What is the idea behind the change? Extra concessions revenue with the overlap of dinner time? 7 vs 7:30 isn't really a big deal to me personally. Saturday is usually the highest attendance in my experience so I don't really get what the 4pm start time is trying to accomplish.

Perhaps TSN before Hockey Night in Canada?? Just a thought?

That would make sense if it was one game but I would think it's unlikely TSN will be covering three Attack home games next season. I'm thinking this is likely a test to see what the area response is to a 4pm start time, just not sure what they are looking to get out of it.

Could be testing to see what revenue in the city is like after the game? With a 6:30 finish time, there is a chance that more people might go out after the game to eat or for a drink.

Attack name Darren Rumble as Asst coach . The former Kitchener Ranger dman has a long history of playing experience, as well as coaching in AHL and Major Junior.

I would say the hire certainly checks a lot of the boxes the team was looking for. Extensive playing experience, extensive coaching experience and a defense background. This looks like a really good get in my opinion.

Previewing the CHL Import draft tomorrow, Fred Wallace interviews Dale DeGray. Dale indicates he would like a Dman with the pick but if the 2-3 D they like are off the board then they may look to take the best player available. Sounds like they already have a deal in place with a potential pick provided they are available when the Attack make their selection.

Attack take big Czech defenseman Martin Matejicek. Listed at 6'2" and 205lbs on elite prospects. 5 goals and 15 assists in 44 games in the U20 league. Looks like a solid pick up and the size should translate to the OHL.

Here's what I found on our new import pick.

Sounds like another player that will fit the mold of what this wants their identity to be a bigger more rugged team to play against. We'll see how it translates to the OHL level.

How do we fell about our D core/depth with the addition of Martin Matejicek? Listed projection below assuming 03 OA Sawyer moves on either by trade or heading to school. Obviously still need to get a look at Matejicek come camp but he would appear to slide in quite nicely to shore up the left side.

Projections:
Jordan - Sedley
Petrovski - Steen
Matejicek - Rogers
Smith - Luddington

They can probably walk into the start of the regular season with that group and see how it goes. You can argue who plays with who, but thats a decent top 6 to start with.

Bryant - Goure - Barlow
Petrovski - Guindon - Burroughs
Hookey - Cormier - Brennan
Teresigni - Chafe - Addy
Stewart

George and Votary try to decide who is the starter.

Interesting thing about this group is that Im not sure they need to do what Kitchener or Sarnia did by going so all in, they may need a top D and a depth F, thats it. If Matejicek proves a top 4 guy, all the better.

I would agree with that assessment. Would be nice to get a look at Martin Matejicek to assess the D core to determine if changes are required but puts them in a good starting point. He could be that top 4D quality player we've desired. Forward and goaltending are solid entering the year.
