Going to be a short bench on D tonight. Papais and Lawrence projected to help out on the back end. Only 4 natural D dressing with Sedley and Sawyer out. Big test for the younger guys like Rogers and Petrovski.

Ouch.

Honest question:

What are the positives you see with your current head coach?

He sucks!

Digger hopefully address' it in the off season.

Barlow takes a slash on the hands, looks over at the ref then goes after George. Bad decision but if the ref makes the call the hit doesn’t happen.

I must say I really thought Papis looked like a seasoned stud back on the blue line making the simple plays making the right plays most times and didnt look out of place at all. Kudoos to him for an excellent game in a position he does not regularly play. Also of note thought Cormier and Tersigni played pretty decent games. Votary was sharp again and Guindon was buzzing all night. It was to bad the one goal got called back. I thought the team played their best game of the series but it still wasn't quite enough unfortunately.

A good effort by some, but poorly coached game by Owen Sound. Great game by votary and Papais played well on D, tough assignment. I think Hookey must be hurt because there has been nothing out of him this series, benched in the third in London game 2. Don't understand Chafe and Cormier getting ice time with Stewart on the bench. Maybe they regret the trade. Who knows.? Bad hit by Barlow, if they get beat out he will be at under 18's the next day, so I think he is thinking of that. Lawrence standing right beside Humphrey's Ot winner, I think the players are done with Walters and will gladly start the summer on Thursday night. \

Colby is still playing hurt, I highly doubt that he is going to play at the U18s, If you knew Colby at all, you would know that his 100 percent focus is on his team.

I thought the blueline as a whole played a strong game. Papais was outstanding as a fill in D. Everybody stepped up with the extra minutes which was great to see.

The rookie class has played really well down the stretch. Tersigni and Cormier have really steeped up with the extra minutes and are positive contributors. Cormier has been using his larger frame more physically and starting to come more into his own. Rogers keeps playing steady minutes on the back end.

Votary has played great. Not a chance the starters role is just given to George next fall. It's going to be a dog fight which is great to see. Healthy competition is a good thing.

Obviously going to be a lot of work required this offseason for management but I think we've seen a lot to like moving forward as well.

Questions that have been answered for next year

Goaltending, - Votary and George should make a very good pair

Forward depth - Despite the lack of scoring in this playoffs, the play of Teresigni and Cormier should improve the depth for next year, if they are forwards 9 and 10. Would have liked to see more from Goure and Burroughs, but the work ethic and play away from the puck for both have been quite good.

I think the depth on D is very much still a question. Jordan has come along with leaps and bounds, I think last night we have Sedley and the game is done after 60. Adding 2 D to the top 4 will make them a much better overall team.

I loved the teams work ethic last night, its a shame that the results are what they are, but given the injuries and lack of depth right now, they worked hard and could have just as easily won.

They are playing a 1-2-2 forcheck, Stewart doesn't have the footspeed to play that way. Chafe didn't really see a shift in the second half of the game.

The one thing I'll add is both goalies next year are very good puck handlers. That is a huge help to the D and zone exits. That fact that both do it well means the team doesn't really need to adjust a whole lot between the goalies.

I agree that the forward depth is in a relatively good place. The D needs a couple of pieces in my opinion. I would love to see a little more physicality on the back end next year, a little more edge. There's at least two openings on D with the projected grads etc. I think with the limited assets available they can roll with the forward group and invest on the back end to augment the roster.

First game I took in for quite a while. Thought the team gave it their all, but lack depth with all the injuries etc. Was less than impressed with London. Can't see them going too far. Was shocked at the crowd, or lack thereof. Has this been typical??

Footspeed? Unless you are the first guy, all you do is skate backwards to apply pressure. You guys give up the redline 100% of the time and your own blueline at least 60%. Anyway, not much longer now,
And we will see about the U18's

In my opinion, Stewart is not great forwards or backwards. Earlier in the season he played more but the more he played, the more he looked out of place with the higher skilled players. He did not recieve passes well and didn't show a lot of finesse, he'd get a pass and the play woud die because he couldn't recieve it. He had a good game against Flint, but struggled with discipline often and when that happens in the playoffs, your dead. I liked and understood the addition but if they are only playing 9 forwards, he is not in that group, Teresigni and Cormier were both better in the last 10 games and have been very good in the playoffs.

He's good at what he's good at but if he plays to much, it hurts the team more then it helps from a production and discipline viewpoint.

I may have issues with some of the coaching decisions this year, but not last night, I thought they did what they could with everything they had and the players did everything they could to get the win, just didn't get the right bounce.

I agree Games 1 & 2 your Coach looked bewildered and somewhat out of control. Last night he seemed much better however thru injuries and the need to win he was running a very short bench?
The future in OS looks bright with a lot of your key players returning. Barlow is clearly banged up as his contributions have been very limited and this makes it tough as he is a big piece. You look to be strong in net for next season that's for sure.

I guess thats the great thing about hockey is we can agree or disagree. Cormier and Tersigni are small and soft, hopefully they will grow but I guess it is only the coach's opinion that matters.

Last thing I would call Tersigni is soft, he is the first guy on pucks every time he's on the ice. He may not be that big but he never backs down in a battle.

Cormier was very good forchecking last night, one of the reasons that they played as much as they did. He is very good at taking inside lanes and getting in dirty areas, his goals in the last month have all been in 'heavy' areas.

The thing that drives me crazy in the D-zone is watching the Attack players back into the goalie and try to defend almost exclusively with their sticks. The opposition can come in 1 vs 3 and the Attack sit back and try to get in lanes vs attacking the puck carrier often allowing chances on net that could have been prevented by stepping up to separate the puck from the body. It's not like they have to run the guy over with a big open ice hit or anything but disrupt them enough to force them into a move or a play they don't want to make. They consistently allow too much of a gap to the opposition for them to move in to prime real estate and take a shot.
Not managing a good gap is usually due to lack of confidence in skating.
Look I get it you're one of the big Sedley critics on the board, and what I will say is that the team could really benefit from having a true #1 defender that could shelter Sedley a bit more so the team can play to his strengths and not need him in every situation. But the biggest problem with the team's D as it is currently constructed is we have too many defensive / physical guys who, when the games get tight, resort to a lot of chipping up off the glass. You need a mix and the team skews too far to one side.

Sedley brings an element the team otherwise lacks. If the team is to go anywhere next season, he'll have to be a part of the solution.
Bang on. Puck moving defenseman are much harder to find than the stay at home guys that are limited in passing and resort to chipping the puck. Having a D man that can jump in the rush and create odd man opportunities is a great benefit and the team has to have a strategy to cover for when he goes.

Must be a Sedley fan or billet. I agree it could be a benefit for the team for the odd man rush, but he still needs to get back to position, instead of lagging around behind the play. His ability to get back is horrible. His ability to engage with physical play is none existent. We had other defensemen that played this style in the past and it worked. I can see it helped this team as we sit in 7th spot and 1 game from elimination in play offs.
Sorry I'm not a fan of him or his theatrically BS in warm up or during games. As for the rest of the team, no issues (except the coaches, lol) I've been a fan of this team from day 1, so if I don't like a player, than I 'll say what I want and I really don't care about stats. All the great stats for this team as got them no were this year. I feel sorry for our goalies when our all star Dman is at the other end while they are getting hammered with no coverage.
