Funny how Friend gave Verbeak a concussion and now he is out until who knows when and Howdeshell gets suspended for that hit

What's your point?

Nobody here makes the decision to suspend players, not to mention i've seen plenty of players get concussed from clean hits.

All the poster was saying was that the play looked like a slew foot.

I believe so . It looked a lot like a SLEW foot to me
I think you're right about the slew foot. No call on the play, IIRC. Glad he is suspended if this is indeed what it's about.

It didn't look good, but here's hoping Philips is able to play tonight.

Rewatched the play. Howdeshell ties up Phillips as they're skating toward the boards in pursuit of the puck, then uses his right leg to take Phillips' left leg out from under him, and Phillips' forward momentum takes him into the boards legs-first.

Not sure which way Phillips was supposed to have turned.

I don't have access to the video of that game. But it would be interesting to watch and break down the play.

I saw that Bannister was quoted in the Sault Star after Game 5 about that Friend/Verbeek hit. It was noted that the league did review the hit, but obviously did not feel that a suspension was warranted for whatever reason.

Friend was voted best body checker in the league by 19 other coaches.

It looked as though Phillips went to bump him and misjudged Howdeshell’s distance from him.. Thought he was closer than he actually was and then began to lose his balance.. All Howdeshell did was finish his check.

Seriously, you and every other fan who claims the league sides with opposing teams is exactly whats wrong with these boards. There is nothing wrong with being a homer. But my god the league didn't just decide to do owen sound favors. This team sat in the gutter of the league for nearly 3 months of the season and had to climb back into the thick of things.

The league made a call on a hit. Clearly they see it differently then I do and you do. Suspensions happen. Weak ones happen all the time. Sometimes they get missed. But it is idiotic to think that this was done as a favor to help Owen Sound.

The Suspension sucks. It was weak. Soo has plenty of depth to figure it out.

Howdeshell is the Hounds 8th leading point getter. If losing him some how tilts the scale in OS favor then maybe you didn't deserve to be ranked #1 all season long.

Soo is a deep strong team. Enjoy it.

Its way at the bottom of the article, and only briefly mentioned in passing.

Hounds push Attack to brink

Notes: Bannister spoke of how “extremely disappointed” he is that no suspension was handed to Attack defenceman Jacob Friend, whose hit in Game 4 sidelined Verbeek.

"Point of contact was directly to the head,” added the coach, who said the league reviewed the play. “It was a dangerous hit. Our guy's on the sidelines and No. 2 (Friend) is still playing.”
