I was hoping we could have a pair of dominant point men like STL had in the late 1990s with Pronger and McInnis
I don't know if anyone runs a PP like that anymore with a D at each point. That was the norm back in the day. I think virtually every team runs a 4F-1D umbrella (or variation on the umbrella) now. I remember when the Sabres first started using Pominville at one of the points instead of 2D. It was kind of a big deal, but it was seen as ok in part because Poms had some history playing D.

Dahlin can play forward on the PP. He did his rookie year under Housley

When NHL players don't go to the Olympics, will college players like Power make the team?

Shoulda got one game in

I don’t think so. It’ll be made up of Euro players, or the Olympics will get delayed a few months to November or December of 2022. At worst, January of 2023.

They really should have a two pronged approach. One Olympic team with NHL guys, and one with non-NHLers. Everybody gets drug tested. Both lists are expanded, and there’s no deadline where each country has to say “these guys are who we’re sending”, because I’m sure Covid is still gonna eff that up. Basically as long as they’re cleared for banned substances, and aren’t gonna pass on things, they can be added any time.

Yeah, I think it will be delayed.

But didn't Will Borgen make the Olympic team the last time?

Mens Ice Hockey is 1 of over a dozen different sports at the Games. They won't postpone the entire thing just cuz the NHL can't brings it's players over

lol

I'm not sold that NCAA guys are going to jump on the chance to go to China if invited. If they were to fail their COVID test while there, it's three weeks of quarantine at minimum before they can depart which is one of the stumbling blocks for the NHL and NHLPA.

Just throwing this out there.........

There's a chance (chance, mind you) that Power could be a triple gold winner BEFORE playing in an NHL game. It's highly unlikely. But there's a chance.

Pretty insane, to think about. I've come around on the kid, everything you see makes sense. Is it odd that he reminds me of an in-prime Redden?

A NCAA title, WJHC Gold and Olympic Gold would be a massive season for Power.

Definitely not out of the realm of possibility

And he got gold with Miller and Hagel in the 2021 World Championships this year.

Owen doesn't believe in standing around the blue line in the offensive zone. Away from the puck he is always moving and probing the weak side like Dahlin used to do his first couple seasons. So glad Krueger won't be around to beat that out of Power.
