I usually hate these Timmins special picks of players "good at everything, elite at nothing", but I was convinced of this pick within the first 20 seconds of watching him play. Already looks like an NHLer, and I sense he has hidden potential offensively.

He is what people thought Shane Wright was, in terms of all-around-ness.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Beck, in the end, has a better NHL career than Wright? Unthinkable. But so was Wright falling to 4OA. We may have acquired our Aho after all.

It would extremely funny for us, at the very least ;)

Far from unthinkable. I'm thinking it right now and it seems more probable than it looks.

Wright's "intangibles" are largely overrated, whereas Beck has the real intangibles, like e.g. faceoffs and defensive play.

People keep painting Shane Wright as some sort of Jonathan Toews, but I never saw it.

I'm getting bonafide 3C/full package type of player on and off the ice vibes from this pick.

I like it.
Feels like a Tampa Bay level draft steal ala Cirelli, Gourde, Point, Palat, Killorn etc....

It is almost always foolish to immediately anoint picks as steals but this one just feels like it has a chance. Obviously he went earlier than the players that I mentioned and would be less of a surprise but he may slot much higher in a redraft 5 years from now.

Will be interesting how all these OHL players turn out, they all felt some damage from missing an year.

He has a really good release & shot. If we move him to wing, his upside is a Brandon Saad type.

He seems like a 3rd line center type of guy that hopefully finds more offense. Can't say I love the pick, but then there are some people who have watched him who seem to really like this player, so that's encouraging.

Good breakdown of Beck's game from Dylan Krill (lots of video): Only for McKeen's subscribers though:

I love his goal at 0:46 so much :

The way he deceives the Dman by making him think he's skating away from the goalie and then sees the opportunity to make himself available for a pass right in front of the net. Brilliant IQ play.

profiles on him scream ROR...

will be interesting to see how well he translates his wide range of tangible and intangible skills into NHL impact.

top 6 and even top line NHLer seems very much attainable for someone with these types of attributes. Screams big improvement curve from teen to adult.
