Said it right after he was drafted - IMO Beck has the potential to be one of the best players drafted in the entire cuvée - I think he’s one of “those” who slipped through the cracks because of Covid.Would early returns and taking a lot of liberty at this early stage, make Beck look like the steal of this Habs’ draft to date?
Two or three, IMO, maybe four, tops, but that would be playing long enough in the AHl to give him O-type minutes galore before moving him up to the NHL.Great prospect, any one knows in how many years we should expect to see him in the nhl?
Great separation speed as well.I was expecting some type of defensive center.
Turns out he's pretty skilled. He's a hustler too.

My guess is two years. One more in the OHL, followed by a year in Laval. But it wouldn't surprise me if he makes the jump earlier.Great prospect, any one knows in how many years we should expect to see him in the nhl?
We'll still have Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak, and Evans signed...My guess is two years. One more in the OHL, followed by a year in Laval. But it wouldn't surprise me if he makes the jump earlier.
Or Mesar. If we can develop a single Plekanec out of any of those Centers we’ll be set. This guy makes a huge difference to our prospect pool if he pans out, especially considering how thin we are at C IMO.
Same goes for Kidney. If one (hopefully two of them) becomes a solid NHLer, we could be set down the middle for the next decade or so with Captain Nick and Dach. It will be interesting to follow their progression throughout the 22-23 season.
I may be jumping the gun a little. I'm just so impressed with this kid. We'll still have Suzuki, Dach, Dvorak, and Evans signed...
But yeah in 2 years a lot might change.
It might actually be a good thing as we could take our time with him and let him develop properly.I may be jumping the gun a little. I'm just so impressed with this kid.
That's true, we really didn't have a chance to do that properly in the past.It might actually be a good thing as we could take our time with him and let him develop properly.
I also think he needs 2 more years in the OHL before being able to play in the AHL.
He will not be able to play in the AHL because he'll be too young, next camp it's gonna be NHL or OHL for him. That's true, we really didn't have a chance to do that properly in the past.
Having him in the OHL an extra year wouldn't hurt him. I just see his game as being very mature.
Yes my bad, you're correct. Thanks for bursting my bubble lol I keep forgetting he was a rookie. He will not be able to play in the AHL because he'll be too young, next camp it's gonna be NHL or OHL for him.
I doubt he makes the big team next year right away, probably goes the Suzuki path.Yes my bad, you're correct. Thanks for bursting my bubble lol I keep forgetting he was a rookie.
Or maybe he'll just pull a "ROR" and by pass the AHL entirely.
He went 33rd overall, he's basically a first-rounder IMO.I wouldnt be surprised if Beck play a couple of exhibition games with the Habs and gets a longer look than most recently drafted prospects do. Usually, team cuts their CHL players soon, unless they are 1st rounders, but in this case, I think he could force management's hands to keep him longer.
I mean Beck will without a doubt get his ELC. Arber had to actually earn one)If he keeps this up into the main camp, he will head back to the OHL with an ELC in his back pocket.
It reminds me of Xhekaj last year. We all saw how good he was at the rookie games. And then we saw he was impressing at the main camp and preseason. And many of us knew he would be signed to an ELC.

Arber was not even drafted... I don't really see how they're comparable apart from doing great during the camp. The similarities are the same though. Both impressed and we are confident he is signed to an ELC before he gets send back to Junior.
It won't be like Roy or Kidney, who were sent back to Junior and signed to ELCs several months later after successful Junior seasons.

Probably that's what you're alluding to.
Aight... but Beck would get an ELC eventually even if he was putrid. That's exactly what I'm alluding to. The fact we saw them as stand outs and in Arber's case, we knew he would earn his ELC before he'd be cut from camp.
Beck is a stand out so far. If he stands out at main camp, he will also earn his ELC when he gets cut.
One is drafted, one isn't. But both still had/have to earn their ELCs.
I mean, sure they all have to earn their contracts. But, one is a second round pick who's still under control by the organization once he leaves the training camp and heads back to the OHL. Whereas the other one was a free agent if he didn't get signed. They aren't going to be in a rush to sign Beck, especially if they don't plan on having him play NHL games. They're totally different cases. As Belial said, Beck would probably still be signed even if he sucked donkey dick. That's exactly what I'm alluding to. The fact we saw them as stand outs and in Arber's case, we knew he would earn his ELC before he'd be cut from camp.
