An added benefit about beck is though he probably will be 3C is that he is the type of player a coach can plug into wing on a higher line when things need to be switched up or create a spark because of the type of player he is.

Caufield is a great player but I can definitely see him being very streaky with his goals so I can see on off games beck might get some top line minutes.

I really like the pick of Beck and I don't really understand why some don't. This guy has some very good qualities to play in the NHL in the near future.

This guy has missed a year (COVID), he skate like a wind, has a pretty good release, very good work ethic, a high energy player, very good IQ, decent passer, good and active defensively, two way player, already good in the faceoff circle, a dream coach player and most important thing he doesn't have the big spot offensively on his team.

He can have some untapped potential on his offensive game but I really like the way is use to doing the dirty job instead of the easy one, on the offensive side. The numbers don't always tell how a player can be useful or effective and I think Beck has already made the sacrifice in his game to be effective before adding numbers on the sheet and this doesn't have a price at the next level. He play a pro game even in the junior!

I think he will benefit from playing with more cerebral players at the pro level because of his IQ. I don't want to compare him to these guy but for me I see some of the quality in Beck at the same age that I have see before in some very good NHL players like Sebastian Aho, Brad Marchand, Anthony Cirelli, Patrice Bergeron, Ondrej Palat and Brayden Point; whatever the numbers they put on the sheet this guy still useful and doing something good every time they stepped on the ice! Each of these players at the time of the draft are not a "sexy" picks and didn't have the same exposure of some others prospects but know everyone regret to miss 1 of these guys! I hope Beck will be the next one!

I don't think Beck will become a superstar but I really see him as a player with some time, who has the capability to put all his qualities together to be a very good player! Some players have all the skill and qualities in the world but they are never able to put things together see Andrei Kostitsyn. It's not how many tools you have in your tool box that count but what you can do with the tools you have and I think Beck will find a way to use all his tools in an effective way and he will become a really great pick for the new HuGo era!

Some young players are used to their offensive side in the juniors and they encounter some difficulty to adjust at the pro level when they lose their offensive opportunity, a thing that has never happened to him before. After that the guy lost his confidence and not everyone but the majority has based his game on the talent and pure skill at this age, a la Kovalev, they don't really focus really hard on training, small details or other side of the game and sooner than later showing some flaws when the offensive numbers are missing. With a player like Beck they will not have this "wall" at the pro level and a much better chance to reach his potential then an offensive player in my opinion because of the kind of player he is and the way he was used!

Is Beck a similar player to Danault with a slightly better shot?

Could he be the replacement for Evans if Jake's salary requirements at age 29 UFA are too high?

I think it’s highly possible. Evans might not have the health to last until 30 anyways

Personally, Beck is very similar to Danault and Bournival when they got drafted and have close to the same pedigree see DNA player. But if I have the choice between the 3 at the same age, I will draft Beck with my 2 eyes closed. Better release, much better hockey sense, more cerebral player, play at a faster pace, faceoff beast at 17, high energy player with a great speed. He has a lot more tools than the 2 others for a potential top 6.

Evans at 29, if he doesn't change the way he plays the game, he will probably be a career injury at this age or close to it ... I think he can replace Evans at the time you suggest because of his speed, 200 way play and is faceoff success!

And I don't think this guy is a savior but he has all the tools to establish himself, a lot better than some projection in my opinion. Remember all of this guy at the time of the draft and they didn't have the edge or be a sexy pick versus the other one but they have one thing in common, they play a pro game even at the junior level.

These guys play to win and not to put the number on the sheets. This translates very well at the pro level and this guy is like wine, they got better every year because of the cerebral part of the game, they are still learning and becoming more effective!

Brad Marchand : Third Round - 76th pick in 2006
Patrice Bergeron : Second Round - 45th pick in 2003
Sebastian Aho : Second Round - 35th pick in 2015
Brayden Point : Third Round - 79th pick in 2014
Ondrej Palat : Seven Round - 208th pick in 2011
Anthony Cirelli : Third Round - 72th pick in 2013

I don't know if Beck will reach the ceiling of this guy, a lot of big names here, but with his speed, hockey sense and the quality he has I think he will be a very interesting prospect to track when he will hit the pro level and he can become a very good pro player!

Is not a Kyle Chipchura 2.0 for some who don't like the pick because of his projection and he will do something good every time he will step on the ice!
