"SOG Opportunities"?? That's one I haven't heard from you (other than complaining that he takes TOO many shots)

Ovechkin:
a) Has one of the most dangerous shots in NHL history (from essentially anywhere within the blue-line)
b) Is one of the best players in NHL history at generating shots

Exactly how does one quantify "one of the msot dangerous shots in NHL history" anyways?

Subjectively of course because his shooting % doesn't stand out apart from other top goal scorers.

Except he doesn't generate shots, he used to in his peak for sure but now the team caters to him and he is the designated shooter, the stats back this up yet you take a shot at the messenger above which is pure deflection and noise.

Mike Bossy was a "more dangerous shooter" do some homework.

Despite this I still have Ovechkin as the best goal scorer of all time but some of the arguments made about and for him are in another universe.

Also irrelevant as it will drop for both Crosby and McDavid as they get older and production slows down, just like it does for every player ever.
So they should retire now to preserve their high placement in ppg;)

I believe Ovie is first all time in goals per game for players who have played at least 1,000 games. (.61 gpg) Gretzky is second with .60 gpg.

You're correct. But how about this for a crazy stat? Lemieux played 915 games. He could come back now and play 85 scoreless games (to reach 1,000), and still have the highest goals per game all-time, and by a decent margin as well.

(Actually, Lemieux could sit on the bench for 214 games - more than 2.5 seasons - and still have the highest GPG all-time. Of course, Lemieux's GPG is inflated relative to Ovechkin by playing most of his career in a higher-scoring era, so this isn't a "serious" comparison, but it's still a pretty ridiculous stat).

including OV .....He is tied with Jagr now in ppg at 27th. But as you pointed out will drop behind the great 68 soon enough.

Ovie ties Luc Robitaille for 22nd all time in points scored with 1394.

Ovie is also tied with Robitaille for most points all time among LWs.

Ovie also now has 100 more goals than any other LW. (Robitaille had 668)

Not to mention that Ovie adds to his PP goal record with his 280th career PPG.

Ovie just keeps chugging along. 😁
