People are being too harsh on Scheifele. Yeah he had a couple of rough defensive lapses' but all this talk of "character" is ridiculous. Personally I think he is exhausted from having to carry all that defensive responsibility playing in front of questionable NHL D and having the weight of carrying his 2 wingers who are defensively questionable at times. It is starting to remind me of the criticism Wheeler was facing when he was on the top line.

Scheifele has not been carrying the his wingers. Laine has been leaps and bounds better than Chef defensively, and although Connor is not too good at it, he is not being carried by Chef.

our worst players tonight were:

Helleybyuck
Scheifele
Bitetto
Sbisa

Not good , the whole team , and i mean everyone looked half asleep all game . No excuse for that especially at home , if the Jets play like that again on Sunday that may be the end of the road for Maurice .

I watched Kelly McCrimmon parse his words mid-week when asked why the firing of Gallant...

I know the man and lets just say... he's a shrewd man and having to parse his words hurt him to the core...

Gallant was sacrificed because he was good at his job... Fleury and Subban have sucked this year... the metrics, numbers his players were top 5 in the NHL in just about everything...

Gallant was loved by the Vegas players from what I have heard and that was why he was fired...

To send a message to the players... because they play the game... take them out of their comfort zone...

It's a brutal world, but it didn't shock the hell out of me... it was all very Corporate...

When you can't send players down to the minors... you take the things away they love...

This is the NHL now... St. Louis last year turned the NHL in to a Wall Street Meme...

Savage...

alternatively Kelly could have been parsing his lips because he has to deal with the fall out of an impulsive meddling owner?

Who knows

It might wake the players on this team up and light a fire under them. Yeah we have some issues on defense but Scheifele playing like he doesn't give two ****s in his own end isn't on our AHL D.

Seems to me that things are stale and a wake up call could shake the leadership foundation a bit.

Ok good explanation but I still think both coach and gm should go. It is time for regeine change. 1-7 in their last 8 at home is plain ugly and unacceptable. The fact they ate even in the hunt fur a wc spot is an inditement on the greed of the NHL for the fake parity created by rewarding failure.

Didn’t watch. Sounds like I made the right decision.
I switched off at 4-1
Watched Schitts Creek instead probably just as funny as the game.
Guessing it will be a severe downward trajectory from here on.
No sense in piling on we just aren’t a good “team” in the true sense of the word.
Change is needed.

We had a stinker?

Such disrespect for the paying customers.

Getting pretty tired of the indifference, especially from some of our top players.

You don’t lose 7-1 at home to a team on the 2nd of a b2b and just brush it under the rug.
The Jets looked like they were on a back-to-back not Tampa , unreal . Hopefully Maurice blames it on Bourque and Harkins plays the rest of the games . ;)

Someone has to start taking the the puck to the net , way too much peeling off to the boards . And i like Copp but second line just seems to be a bit above his offensive ability , Little would look good there though . I like Frenchie but for 4 million a season he needs to do more , maybe try him with Wheeler and Ehlers .

I agree Scheifele isn't carrying his wingers and also agree Laine is playing much better defensively this season but Laine HAS to start scoring goals , he's supposed to be a sniper and he is anything but so far this season . I'm not picking on Laine , he just has to start scoring goals like we know he can .

I gave up at 5-1. That was brutal effort. There is no need to blame Laine and Connor's play from Sheif's bad plays. At time I tought that Laine plays D, because there was two D men and Laine or Laine and one D when Tampa turned puck over on they own end. Something has to be done. Put the blender on.

Ehlers - Scheifele - Laine
Connor - Wheeler - Perrault
Copp - Lowry - Roslovic
Harkins - Shore - Appleton

D parings were ok. Sbisa and Potato were ugly. But what you can do in this situation.

Well at least he admits it....

Nobody was any good tonight, coach included,” Jets head coach Paul Maurice said

I don’t have an explanation for you,” Maurice said. “I think we were moving right and then got to 2-0 and now we’re waiting for the puck to come to us. That’s the best explanation I can give you. I don’t know.”

Remember a week ago when some thought Niku wouldn’t be good enough to play ahead of Sbisa, Bitteto, etc. This is the one positive with all the injuries. Kid will cement himself. Can’t wait for Samberg too. Those waiver guys are playing hard and giving it their all but over time it shows that they are just not good enough. Hoping for this soon, end of March:
Jmo Pionk
Niku Buff
Samberg Poolman
