Glad I missed this one, doesn't look pretty
One silver lining of all this losing is eventually Maurice may have to go

Ok good explanation but I still think both coach and gm should go. It is time for regeine change. 1-7 in their last 8 at home is plain ugly and unacceptable. The fact they ate even in the hunt fur a wc spot is an inditement on the greed of the NHL for the fake parity created by rewarding failure.
The GM? You've totally lost the plot.

I think so.

Our guy was pushed into their goalie, plus it was the Lightning guys stick that hit the mask of the goalie.

Game was lost for sure, but challenge it and send the message to your team that you give a ****, Maurice.
Maybe he was thinking to show them he didn’t give a damn just like them in their play?

The Ehlers thing was irrelevant. People are just understandably pissed about the whole fiasco.

The real story was that Tampa chased our #1 player from the net with ease, exposed our AHL D and generally made us look like an indifferent lottery team.

This collapse reminds me of the Columbus game that got Noel fired. I think Maurice has a longer leash, but unless they rebound very quickly--as in the next game--the season and Maurice's tenure are in jeopardy.

Ds weren’t good but I must say it was some really poor turnovers from vet forwards at the blue line early in the game that put the game away. Not Ds fault in those.

This team has more awkward moments than an episode of The Office.

Jack Roslovic. 5-0, scores a goal to make it 5-1 but everyone knows the game is essentially over. He celebrated like it was a tying goal. Weird.

Blake Wheeler. Skating into the offensive zone early in period 2 (I think) and wide open seam to Andrew Copp skating down the wing. No pass but rather Wheeler shoots a muffin right into the goalies crest.

Paul Maurice. No challenge on the Ehlers goal. Does that goal matter to the team? Of course it doesn't. But it sure matters to Ehlers. Think Ehlers will bust it hard on his next back check?

Mark Scheifele. Some speculated that the reason he looked sour after last year's exit meeting was because the coach told him he had to start playing with more defensive awareness. If that was indeed what was said, his defensive play this year is a giant middle finger to the coach. That's awkward.

Well at least he admits it....

Nobody was any good tonight, coach included,” Jets head coach Paul Maurice said

I don’t have an explanation for you,” Maurice said. “I think we were moving right and then got to 2-0 and now we’re waiting for the puck to come to us. That’s the best explanation I can give you. I don’t know.”

Didn't Noel say something like that just before he got fired?

He said after the game that he didn't challenge because he wasnt sure they would overturn it (with the refs and interference reviews this year, hes probably right) and he didn't want to risk injury on a PK because 7-1 vs 7-2 doesnt matter.

The only Jet who tried last night was Roslovic.

Tbe rest of the team quit after the first 5 minutes of the 1st period.
Our captain Wheeler did absolutely nothing all game. Smh

Losing by 7 goals and not even 1 fight. This team has stopped caring.

They were overmatched last night. I think they cared but simply could not keep up.
They need the goalie to bail them out just like he did against Van. If he does not then this happens.

Disagree that the whole team gave up — MP, Niku, Roslo, JMo and Lowry were working hard, and Sbisa/Bitts were trying and failing — but this game was like the teams woes for the last year or so crystallized into a single game: disorganization at the back, forward caught cheating, perimeter plays that were easily and ruthlessly broken up, generally slow and awkward transitions and players looking confused by the Bolts quick puck movement.

It’s a system designed to minimize risk and stay above water, and one that is exposed by speed and skill especially when the players are stunned and chasing the game. It was brutal to watch, and deflating, and it was the kind of game that the 17-18 Jets were often on the other side of.

Hard to know where to go from here. Maybe it’s a turning point, but I am not sure these Jets have the overall talent and coaching to manage that. They’re in a tough spot. If I were Mo, at some point I’d be tempted to open the valve and let them just play. How much worse could they be?

I'd throw Appleton in there as someone who was working.

Time for Maurice to go. Don't even care if it helps at this point. I'm losing interest, entertain me.

I agree Scheifele isn't carrying his wingers and also agree Laine is playing much better defensively this season but Laine HAS to start scoring goals , he's supposed to be a sniper and he is anything but so far this season . I'm not picking on Laine , he just has to start scoring goals like we know he can .
I agree with you 1000%, and for the team (and Laine!) to start scoring goals like they can, we need a shake up in the org.

Well, glad I missed that one.

What was this Ehlers drama that has been mentioned?

A bit overstated and a drama created by the fans. Score was 7-1 in garbage time late in the third. Ehlers scores while Shore crashes the net. Goal is waved off. Maurice doesn't challenge.

Fans now believe Ehlers should be outraged at Maurice not challenging.

He should be outraged all right. But about the entire game and not that non-event.

Sbisa-Bitetto

Top line :deadhorse

Connor and Roslovic had a couple moments, but this was a piss poor effort all around
The Sbisa - Bitetto pairing reminded me of circus clowns trying to put out a fire that just keeps growing. They were comically bad and a few times I was just laughing out loud in disbelief while I watched them ”perform”

No other team in the NHL would pair together Sneezer and Potato, I don't care how good they are in the room or how hard they try, in today's game they are out of their element and out matched as a pair. Fact is more performances by the team in general over the next few weeks and it's next year for this team and my next years team does not include these two, you can include Boo Boo and Kuli, bring up whatever prospect up to play and see what you have.

Thx...

But I hate losing...

More than I like winning...

I can win and still not like the way I won...

That's why I like Sip'...

I'll smile when I have lived a good life... not a half assed life...

The Jets are people just like you and I with gifts... squandered gifts...

Now, I won't step on @Derfel toes by posting SV%, but 5 goals on 12 shots isn't even Comrie level goaltending. In comparison, BroSwat shone in relief with a sparkling 12/14 shots not entering the net. Yay.

I would post the save percentage, but my "weird font" issue has returned for HF Forums, and last time I asked for help in the Off-Topic forum I was jumped all over. So I'll stay away for the indefinite time being until it resolves itself like it did last time, I guess.
