Patrick Roy is another one of those from the well of same old coaches. Having one good year where your team lost as the #2 seed, missing the playoffs twice, and then quitting on your team a month before training camp is not the type of thing that inspires confidence.

The Avs were not what they are now when he has was the helm. That's why he wanted them to sign Radulov. But Sakic wanted to rebuild at that point. The biggest issue is he came in as I recall as more than a coach, right. He had some administrative powers as well. That is where the clash with Sakic came in. It could never work. Esp. with a guy in Roy who used to build his own teams that he wanted to coach with the Remparts.

But Patrick now not only he wants to only coach but he is a changed man, less volatile. He is more mature all around. It would be frankly obstinate from NHL managements to blacklist him cause of mistakes from the past. I think the advantages would outweight the disadvantages. Cause he always has good ideas, he thinks outside the box. Not to mention he would be a great selling point to any city. I think he would have been perfect for NYC.

Didn't the Rangers try that first time coach thing before Gallant with David Quinn? That didn't seem to work out to well for them.

Which could explain why they prefer getting some more experienced coaches now. Because they probably feel they're in a place where they need someone who has done it before to take them to the next level. Whereas before, when Rangers were in a rebuild, they probably felt a new coach would best serve what they wanted at that moment, one who can grow with them.

However, Quinn is another of the new coaches. He's only in his second head coaching gig now in San Jose. So he's still a new face in the league.

This guy is so over rated. Was handed top tier talent and blew it. Screwed up contracts on the core 4 and traded for Matt Murray? He makes Bergy look like a hockey genius
Could be overrated but also possible the bad moves were Shanahan’s idea. We’ll see soon enough who’s the clown now that they both have free rein.

Meh, this is how management works, in pretty much every sphere of life. You surround yourself with people you're comfortable with as a convenience/necessity. Is is what it is.
This.
You don't hire your buddies to hang out with them, you hire former colleagues you know, trust and know will deliver.
You see it everywhere.

No surprise as Simon Gagné was brought in to be Roy's assistant coach last year with the intention to have him be his successor.

Remparts have a press conference today at 4PM. And the fact they will host this presser just a few days after Roy & Tanguay had their presser should give us an idea that the ones who will be named to replace them will be done internally.

Oilers Athletic writer mentions today Evan Bouchard will not be signed prior to July 1st and that any offer sheet of any amount he signs will be "disastrous" to the Oilers and they wouldn't match it.

Any interest?

I really don't see HuGo being the types to do that, it's not really their style. No reason not to talk to Holland about a trade though.

The Habs are not in a position to offer sheet. Their 1st next year has a good chance of being very good, and they're missing their second.

They might begin to offer sheet next year.

Offersheets are a legitimate strategy.

Ah yes the Trevor Timmins excuse

Yeaaaaah.. except Timmins was far better with two other GMs and our draft woes started changing the day he was named AGM. If the team drafts for need, it's certainly not the draft guru pushing for that. "We need a center, Trevor, who's the best center we can take" "we should take BPA, but Kotkaniemi". Both Titty and the clown were high on Tkatchuk.

The Colorado Avalanche will most likely add a top 6 center for next year.

There's some nice option for them with Kuznetsov on the market and now apparently Elias Lindholm could be available.

Maybe Ryan O'Reilly as a UFA.

Avs will bounce back next year for sure.

Don't forget Dvorak. Probably the only one around who can push MacKinnon to be the 2C.

Hughes called Brisson right away after Devils announced Bratt's contract.
Factor in whatever BS '' I'm lowering myself by playing in Canada'' bonus, minus the fact that Bratt has produced better career numbers. Seems this is pretty much the right ballpark for a deal, to me at least. Don't even need to take my Steiner calculator out for this one.
