Wonderboy cooking in Pittsburgh already.

Man they need young blood and they go get a 32 years old guy. They have a massive cap space not sure Smith is a good use of it. They need young guys capable of sharing the load with Malkin, Crosby and Letang. They have one established forward and one established dman under 30 i mean like good luck with that. They'll miss again next year. Buffalo is not going anywhere but up. With Hornqvist's and Gudas' contract over i'd say Florida is in a better spot than last year.

What were you expecting? HuGo blew their load on Newhook before the draft and we have literally nothing we can afford to part with that has value unfortunately. Outside of maybe an Edmunston but realistically what are we getting for those types of players right now. Bergevin buried this franchise. It’s been almost two years and we’re still recovering.
If we retain on some of those guys we'll get something. And honestly we totally should do it. I'm not sure why we are so afraid to retain. If you retain on Savard and make him a 2 millions guy you'll get something. All teams are loking for good vets on a cheap contract and a David Savard at 2 millions for this year and next holsd value. I mean the Bruins are paying Mike Reilly and Derek Forbort 3 millions each ... Same for Dvorak. He's worth nothing as it stands but retain and make him a 3 millions guy and teams will listen for sure.

That's the curse of having kept the same core past the point where they were really elite. Chicago got stuck in the same pattern a few seasons ago.

Seems like only a couple of teams have announced their qualifying offers and the deadline is tomorrow afternoon. Interested to see the complete list, including the Habs.

As I always say, scouting Dir should be purged after 5-years, it’s purely a game of recency bias - who do I know in the right places at the right time and once they move I become ineffective as history has clearly shown over last 25+ years

Al Murray had a very good first 4-years (2011-2015), he had been scouting Point & Cirelli from their early teens for Hockey Canada as Scouting Dir after being let go by LAK, and had inside info when he joined TBay. Once he lost those contacts who had moved on, he became ineffective (2016-2022)

If they are serious about keeping the team in WPG, the ownership better open up the piggy bank this summer & Chevy better do well in offloading Hellebuyck
The only reason the team was ever moved to Winter-peg is because David Thomson asked for a team, if he loses interest (and he doesn’t care for sports to begin with) the team will be instantly moved likely to Atlanta
