Nah i missed it apparently what was the fuzz all about?

Just that Hughes apparently lied to the fans that he wouldn't maximize an asset, when he flipped Petry.. and it was this big affront to the fan base that we shouldn't forgive now that he's willing to trade a player for less than he could get, to do that player a favor.

It was flimsy at best but it was a passionate plea that it was unforgivable.

There also is never a mention about winning a Cup, going to a Cup contender. As opposed to fandoms view, majority of players don’t care much about winning a Cup, it a nicety not a necessity, playing & living in a market that meets their lifestyle & monetary needs are priority #1
Kings got as much of chance as anybody to get out of the west. A part from a few bottom dwellers I don't think there is much separating anybody in the nhl really. They got exactly what they wanted with the cap, everybody got a shot. You stay healthy you can win a cup, you lose one key player and all of a sudden you're fighting for the first overall pick. NHL is the NFL lol

Yeah a lot of teams were lining up to trade valuable assets for a guy who was only going to Detroit. GMs are definitely dumb enough to trade a 2nd for a guy they're going to flip retained for a 4th the next week. All Hughes had to do was lie to them and not let them talk to Petry or his agent at all. :sarcasm:

DeSmith and the 2nd were the assets we got for taking Petry as well as the ability to dump Hoffman and Pitlick. As soon as it was clear Petry was choosing Detroit it should have been obvious we were getting nothing for the second trade. Getting a 4th is not the end of the world. Maybe it's another Konyushkov or Trudeau or Farrell.

The more picks you have the better the chances to be randomly lucky. The only deterrent is you'll end up having too many contracts but you can always let the kid who did not develop go there's no harm to it.

Bruins had an awful draft in 2015. One of the worst in history probably. They drafted Zboril, Debrusk and Senyshyn 13rd, 14th and 15th while Barzal. Connor and Chabot were drafted 16th, 17th and 18th. But they still ended up with Debrusk a good 2nd line winger and Carlo and good 4th dman. They had 7 picks in the first 3 round that year so even if they missed they had random luck.

Very, very OT, but please, I am getting desperate here....

The:

"We value your privacy"

popup

I get that, but please, why do I have to press accept and refresh the site 15-20 times before it goes away?
Am I missing something?
Is it because I surf from outside of Canada?

This thread is usually my daily fix of NHL, but if this continues, I might have to drop HFBoards altogether, which would be a shame. But my sanity is beginning to be at stake here.
Do yourself a favor and install an adblock.

Idk if this post will stay up as it goes against what the website wants.

Btw if Tanner "sniper" Pearson could continue to snipe the puck top corner for a few weeks he could return something at the deadline dunno maybe a conditional 3rd round pick/
With his playoff pedigree it's a guarantee a healthy Pearson gets a decent pick back.

All this drama that he wasn’t finish and we should have received at least a 2nd round pick
But we have received a 2nd round pick. It was given by the Pens to take him and DeSmith for nothing.

Trade was :

Pitlick
Hoffman

For

2nd round pick
Petry
DeSmith

If there's any fans who believed we got a 2nd round pick for Pitlick and Hoffman you can safely ignore them cause they know nothing about hockey, the cap hit and the NHL in general. Pitlick and Hoffman not retained were worth nothing.

The reason we got a 2nd round pick for taking Petry and DeSmith is because they were worth nothing. And now before someone says we got a 3rd round pick for DeSmith well we had to take a bad contarct for it to happen and playoffs bound teams can't do that.

Yeah it sucks we had to retain to just trade Petry out for nothing but it is what it is we still got a 2nd round pick and a 3rd round pick for nothing and some retention in the process. Petry had to go and wer had to retain for it to happen life sucks and is unfair bla bla bla

With his playoff pedigree it's a guarantee a healthy Pearson gets a decent pick back.
Yeah his playoffs pedigree is not bad at all actually. I think Pearson is what i would call a good gamble. A good career 3rd line guys with decent playoffs stats. Went to the final once with LA and to the semis another time with the Nucks. He is likely done as a NHL player but i mean he's 31 a revival season for one year is possible who knows.

With McCann breaking out for the Kraken and them having Beniers, I can’t see Wright securing a top 6 spot anytime soon.

We hope

Gorton’s track record implies, like MB, his strength is pro player acquisitions vs amateur & that’s not Hughes background at all. Habs also had one of the best capologists in Sedgwick before HuGo arrived - who MB poached from league office
How come we were one of the worst at managing the cap then?

Capologist doesn’t make the final decision on which contracts to sign - they present scenarios
He didn’t do a very good job of presenting his case. If you’re saying MB simply ignored his advice then he should have stayed where he was. My guess is, being a capologist isn’t very difficult and Sedgwick was nothing to write home about.
