Here comes the beginning of the season bad takes after a good team lost a game. I swear in one week people will put us first in the division.
Carolina are still pretenders do you doubt it?
They haven't addressed their main issue which runs straight up the middle. They like so many other teams are close but they have to make the right moves by TDL to gain that next step. Even 1 win in a conference final would be an improvement. :sarcasm:

They still have a young team with Aho being 26, Svechnikov 23, Necas 24 but yeah their GM should be more agressive at the TDL. Time goes fast one day you have a young core the next day it's over i mean we went thru this as habs fan with Subban/Price/Patch so we know it.

PLD article in the Athletic today was a total puff piece, but gave good insight into his thought process. He wanted to play in SoCal, live the beach life, a cosmopolitan life, dine with celebrities. Lifestyle choice and based on his works one he was driving towards from the time he entered the league.

Pretty clear based on that, MTL was never an option. Another local boy trolling fans and media, pretending to want to play here, with zero intention of doing so. And I'm sure Hughes was well aware.
Chevy really maximized the asset when you consider what PLD was looking for.

Chevy did very well here considering the context. Blake on the other hand didn't seem to get any concessions, paid top dollar for a player that wanted to be there. Poorly played, for a team without a G.

There also is never a mention about winning a Cup, going to a Cup contender. As opposed to fandoms view, majority of players don’t care much about winning a Cup, it a nicety not a necessity, playing & living in a market that meets their lifestyle & monetary needs are priority #1

It looks like signing Allen to that contract will turn out to be a bad move. Hughes couldn't know he would be able to get a DeSmith for nothing though.
No, he did not. Like he did not know Monty would improve that much and become a #1 option.

Canucks still trying to trade-dump Garland. They wants to save $1-2m in the trade according to Friedman. It's been like a year he's been on the trade block. Kinda weird that the Preds are apparently on him, didn't they just start a rebuild?

And for once, no Habs rumors involving them with Garland, but we can start one...

But but but... I thought Hughes got fleeced by "only" getting a pick & Lindstrom for him because he cared more about giving Petry what he wanted than doing what's best for the team
It was really only 2 people who didn't get it and they were determined to tell everyone they didn't get it.

Then again, I love marginal prospects with size, so no one is perfect.

Except for the mods.... right ?

You read to much into 1 player's experience.

Athletes are not a monolithic entity.

Some individuals certainly prioritize lifestyle over career performance ambitions, and obviously an individual's priorities can & do shift over time.

Money is always a factor to some degree, often the leading one, but there's ample evidence of players taking less to prioritize a chance at winning or to play with a familiar coach/teammate, or to have a better shot at a role they cover etc.

Far more nuance to what player's prioritize than what you suggest imo

Where are the three posters crying and crying and crying about how we got fleeced in the Petry trade I can't wait to hear their opinions. Show yourselves , go out on your shields!

I thought it was dumb to acquire him in the first place. The return for the second trade was bad no matter how you want to cut it. It was never about Petry for me.

Very, very OT, but please, I am getting desperate here....

The:

"We value your privacy"

popup

I get that, but please, why do I have to press accept and refresh the site 15-20 times before it goes away?
Am I missing something?
Is it because I surf from outside of Canada?

This thread is usually my daily fix of NHL, but if this continues, I might have to drop HFBoards altogether, which would be a shame. But my sanity is beginning to be at stake here.
