Yeah, well that type of player will never happen for a team. Or rarely. Teams have greater chance at picking them on waivers than drafting them. 7 years past draft day...that means what 2 contracts before you see improvement? Chances are a 3rd contract isn't coming. Then change of scenery and the rest is history.
Sure... The point is more that it's a bit silly how sure some posters are that Harris or Barron will never be top 4 regulars, let alone top pairing dmen, based on their performance thus far at 22-23.
Both are more established/proven than Forling than Forling was at the same age.
Actual development curves are far different than what some seem to expect. Forling is an outlier in terms of how good he's become, but an NHL dman hitting his stride btw 25-30 is pretty par for the course.

Rivet didn't become a regular until ~25, and a top -4 player until 27-28.
Bouillon had an outlier full season in his rookie year, then was up and down to the AHL until becoming an NHL regular after 25
Giordano didn't play a full season for the flames until age 26, won a Norris with them at 34....
