Toronto
Wish I had the graphic for the St. Louis/NYR game. Blues really dominated Rangers at MSG. Zachary Bolduc: two goals seven shots, first star good looking prospect for STL. See some rumours Rangers looking to possibly move Trouba and Kreider.

Rags are on a 3 game losing streak, are 5-5 in last 10 games, and have given up 40+ shots during that losing streak. Vets are driftless except for Panarin. Rags fans want Kreider & Trouba gone in particular. Lol

Florida is also on a 4 game losing streak and are 4-6 in last 10. Toronto could easily win the Atlantic this year. 2 straight Stanley Cup finals might be catching up to Florida. That's a lot of hockey. Plus, they lost a lot of depth last summer especially on D.

Colorado could miss the playoffs because their goaltending is beyond shit. It's hard to believe they've allowed this to go on so long. They have a great team that's being completely undone by the worst goaltending in the league. Just terrible management of what should be a consistently elite team.

Quite possible that the Habs don’t draft Demidov if they already have Michkov
I don't think Habs fans would complain today if they had Michkov + Dickinson over Reinbacher + Demidov. Maybe if or when Demidov tears the league apart when he joins, we can all breathe a bit more easy.

The issue wasn't Michkov vs Demidov. At the time of the 2023 draft it was: did the Habs want to add small, not very good skater Michkov to a top6 that had Caufield on it + Newhook, Suzuki, and a depth chart which featured actual real-life pygmies like Kidney and Farrell. What DR brought to the depth chart and DR's own skills and tendencies made him extremely attractive to the Habs organization. Given their valuation of DR -- they absolutely LOVED him -- it makes sense to me why they'd prefer to lean on DR over Michkov.

Was their valuation of Michkov and DR wrong? We'll know as the years go on.

Having a discussion comparing Michkov vs Reinbacher isnt fair at all.
First of all, forward are coming in the NHL earlier during their career and usually they make a positive impact earlier on their team than Dman.
Just an exemple here, it took some years to Hedman to become a dominant Dman, while Matt Duchene was already a really good forward post draft. Nobody here would take Duchene over Hedman.

It will need 2/3 years to know what Reinbacher bring on the table. I personnally think is floor is a top 4 dman, and I still think he can become a first pair. A kind of Dobson, Seider.
That kind of dman are just untouchable, you need to draft them, and this is what Mtl did.

The bolded part of your post is not the only thing that went into the Habs decision on skipping Michkov despite how many times you post it. There were numerous other issues which is why he was even available at 5 and eventually dropped 6 spots.

It was wrong. Michkov is and always was in a different class of player. Best we can hope for now is for DR to at least give us something good, and I really liked DR in his draft year.

The conspiracies to which you presume to allude didn’t stop the hard-ass Flyers from chomping at the bit to snatch him at 7. With all the nasty things said about him one would figure he would drop more. Didn’t happen.

I prefer to deal with the facts as I have them. Michkov is one of the most maligned prospects I’ve ever witnessed — moron David Amber lied about his father’s passing (said his father was murdered) at the moment Michkov was picked. I can’t imagine how livid I’d be if I was one of his family members and had to read and hear this CRAP.

This full-court press of unbounded rotten smears is embarrassing. It hasn’t stopped Michkov of becoming a Calder contender and Philly esctaric for what he can do. So far the shit only splashes on the smear artists.

Until there’s some evidence or authoritative statement, it’s only fair to deal with facts. The Habs preferred to pick Reinbacher and that’s precisely what they did and precisely what was shown in the post-draft PR video.

Ah yes, conspiracy theories and tin foil hats...

6 NHL teams conspiring to smear a teenager so that they could pick a player they knew was the lesser talent in order to win the prize for missing out on a future superstar

Far more plausible and "fact" based than the simple reality that they passed on a player they felt had more flags than the one they chose instead

The simple reality is that the Habs wanted Reinbacher ahead of Michkov. I’m certain they didn’t think DR was a lesser talent — what a nasty thing to say about Reinbacher. He’s a stud prospect who suffered a bad injury.

The smears and conspiracy only comes from fans and some media types who refuse to accept reality. To date no organization picking 1-6 smeared Michkov, if anything the Habs said nice things about him.

It didn’t stop the Flyers. But it did stop Anaheim, Columbus, San Jose, Montreal, and Arizona from taking who a lot of people felt was the second most talented player in the draft. That’s not a conspiracy. That actually happened. And nobody is saying nasty things about him. We’ve identified there were red flags that led to teams, including us, to pass on him and you constantly get offended when people bring that up. It’s a shame there were things teams were seeing that they didn’t like, but let’s be honest if those red flags weren’t there, he wouldn’t have been available at 5 anyways and we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

They clearly didn’t think he was the second most talented player. That actually happened.

You’re a pro scout? You read his reports?

Can you provide some evidence of these red flags?

Why is it so hard to accept the Habs thought Reinbacher was a better prospect than Michkov? I don’t get it.

The biggest red flag was the three year KHL contract. No teams knew when he would actually come over or if it could be even longer then that. And as we’re seeing with Demidov with just the one year in SKA, the KHL is impossible to work with. They have no interest in developing future NHL players so there’s poor communication and no real development plan during those years if our management is seeing something they don’t like. There was no way of knowing in June 2023 that his KHL contract would be terminated after only one year. That was not what he was putting out there at the time of the draft. He also listed Washington and Arizona as teams he would not play with if drafted. That may be small to some, but to a fully rebuilding team looking for character that gives off a sense of entitlement when it comes to the draft process. If he’s unhappy with the team that picks him, that could potentially hurt any trade capital you get taking him if he pulls something down the road which is why Arizona skipped him altogether.

I’ve seen you mention it’s disrespectful suggesting Reinbacher may not have been our first choice several times. It’s not disrespectful at all. That’s how the drafts work. Every team has a plan A, B, C, etc. Even if they had Michkov ahead to the very last minute at some point, we still took Reinbacher as our guy.

Very likely this is 100% true, so this should solve the mystery of why other teams valued other players ahead of him. Right?
That was not what he was putting out there at the time of the draft. He also listed Washington and Arizona as teams he would not play with if drafted.
I didn't see any such list. The WSH thing is a quote from a player (former scout?) and the ARI thing is obviously fake on its face: they had Cooley and Keller, they weren't gonna draft another small winger and likely weren't interested in him and him in them.
That may be small to some, but to a fully rebuilding team looking for character that gives off a sense of entitlement when it comes to the draft process.
See, you jump again to fake stuff. Entitlement? What? Citation needed.

Reinbacher was the Habs choice ahead of Michkov. This is obvious on its face.
