Very likely this is 100% true, so this should solve the mystery of why other teams valued other players ahead of him. Right?

I didn't see any such list. The WSH thing is a quote from a player (former scout?) and the ARI thing is obviously fake on its face: they had Cooley and Keller, they weren't gonna draft another small winger and likely weren't interested in him and him in them.

See, you jump again to fake stuff. Entitlement? What? Citation needed.

Citation needed.

Reinbacher was the Habs choice ahead of Michkov. This is obvious on its face.
I’ll admit what you asked for citations for is more opinionated on my part. But I just feel that stuff should be viewed as common sense from my experience in sports in general. There’s no way to actually pull sources on the stuff you’re asking because of how quiet Hughes was on the matter. Either way, I think they made the right decision given the info they had at the time of the pick and when the time comes where the fanbase rips apart HuGo if this rebuild doesn’t work, I won’t go after them for this particular decision like I did for a lot of Bergevin’s moves because I can understand where they were coming from. We picked Reinbacher, it was a good decision IMO regardless if it works out or not. Nobody could’ve predicted the injuries and it’s way to early to start playing judge, jury, and executioner on.

See, this is precisely why I'm so insistent about this. You're a thoughtful commentator but you have blinders on with this topic and you're not the only one. The Habs didn't pick Michkov and he's smoking the league, so you and many others have constructed a rickety unwarranted rhetorical structure to justify why this has happened... but it wasn't NEVER necessary to get to this point.

Reinbacher was a fair enough pick at 5OA. The Habs had many reasons to pick Michkov... but many reasons to pick Reinbacher over Michkov: RD being a position of need, Michkov's contract in the KHL, Michkov's size+speed. All of it is on the table right there and HuGoBo said as much... and many of these factual arguments were insisted upon by many commentators here who blindly support HuGo's work. This is why I like to serve them their own factual, rational arguments back to them they force fed it to all of us, so it's just desserts. The conspiracy nonsense is simply not necessary. It's post-hoc cope.

Now, IF HuGo got their evaluation of Michkov's upside wrong, that's fine too, it happens and we should razz them for it without melting down. But if they got Reinbacher wrong, it'll be tough to swallow. We won't know that for a few more years at the earliest. Hopefully they didn't get it wrong.

It was never about upside with Michkov. He would’ve been selected 2nd if teams picked on that. It was risk vs reward. The risk wasn’t worth it. Time for a small section of our fanbase to move on. You keep bringing this conversation back non stop like it’s twitter. Go to those platforms if you want to have those type of conversations. Everyone here has moved on other then you.

Who's bringing up the conspiracy nonsense and smears every time Michkov has a good game (often)? Ain't me, I don't peddle in that crap.

Okay man, next time someone smears the teenager I'll tag you in to pour some water on that.

Moving on, will Noah Dobson break the league record for defenseman cap hit when he signs next year?
This is just a weird thing to day

Nobody is smearing Michkov’s name. Go to the Flyers board if you want to talk about his potential and cheer him on. He isn’t our prospect and it’s annoying listening to you whine about it.

Rags are on a 3 game losing streak, are 5-5 in last 10 games, and have given up 40+ shots during that losing streak. Vets are driftless except for Panarin. Rags fans want Kreider & Trouba gone in particular. Lol

Florida is also on a 4 game losing streak and are 4-6 in last 10. Toronto could easily win the Atlantic this year. 2 straight Stanley Cup finals might be catching up to Florida. That's a lot of hockey. Plus, they lost a lot of depth last summer especially on D.

Colorado could miss the playoffs because their goaltending is beyond shit. It's hard to believe they've allowed this to go on so long. They have a great team that's being completely undone by the worst goaltending in the league. Just terrible management of what should be a consistently elite team.
Cup or bust year for Rangers

Logan Cooley, 17 in 22, 5pts in his last 3gp. No sophomore slump. Curious where he’d go in the 2023 draft. His prospect profile didn’t seem better than Carlsson or Fantili’s but maybe ahead of Smith?

For people saying we should move on from the Michkov talk even in the out of town thread, and posters who bring up his success should become Flyers fans, did you move on from every mistake/potential mistake from the MB era? Did you immediately move on from Sergachev the second we traded him?

C'mon now......not the same at all, 2 poids 2 mesures :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Would've ''likes'' your post a 100 times if it was possible

Apples to oranges

MB ran the Habs
Sergachev was a hab

Makes sense that posters on a Habs board discuss Habs related hockey stuff.

Michkov has zero relation to the Habs. He's one of hundreds of active NHLers that we didn't draft. The obsessive need to bring up his name every time he scores a point is pretty silly, even in the out of town thread.

Kinda funny that Chicago and Nashville are the only two teams below us in the standings. Nashville will turn it around at some point but I have no idea why Chicago's offseason was seen so positively when they basically just signed Teravainen, Bertuzzi, and a bunch of geriatrics.

We're 5th last in terms of win%. If Nashville can turn it around, it seems Chicago, San Jose and friggin Pittsburgh will be our competition for the top 4. We all know Pittsburgh will somehow win 1OV this year and next year to grab Scheafer and McKenna.

Oh yeah they're 100% going to rig it for Pittsburgh lol, can't have them moving to Kansas City when they could get a juicy expansion fee instead

They were under the delusion you could gut the team down to the studs and have your ''generational talent'' carry you out of the rebuild immediately. You'd think they would remember the pain of the rebuild that resulted in the Toews/Kane era. Close to 10 years of abject misery before emerging out of the gutters

It is NOT a smear to say that teams may have felt there were attitide problems with Michkov. If they believed that he was like Wright who didn't believe he had any room for improvement they would have factored that into their decision. If it turns out to be true we won't know for awhile.

Not sure Pittsburgh is in financial dire straits. There are other teams who have it worst, financially speaking.

From a recent valuation of NHL teams, Pittsburgh seems to be doing relatively well in terms of revenues.

Given how much this league is gate driven, a rebuild/mediocrity will probably hit them hard in the long run. It depends on the willingness of FSG to take the financial hit, but they do have deep pockets.

I lived 30 miles from Pittsburgh during my high school years and Pittsburgh fans only support good teams....Pirates and Penguins, If they suck they don't attend games. The Steelers are the exception.
