All wrong. If they were concerned about the 3 year contract it was because Michkov said he would refuse to report. Other than that there is size and character and that rd is far more difficult to get and more important than a winger. Reinbacher WAS improving before the injury. We'll know if they put too much emphasis or were wrong on character when we see how Wright- Slaf and Michkov-Reinbacher turn out.
Reinbacher, hope he turns out

It was a mistake to trade him and yesterday’s game against Washington is a good example as we probably end up winning if he’s in the lineup.
But what do I know, I am only a guy on the internet and they are the one with 25+ years career, Same old boys club!
Your talents are seriously wasted here on HFB - go shake your magic 8 ball to score a jackpot-winning lottery ticket. Come on, Kovacevic was fair at best, sat out his fair share of game last season, and many on this board were ready to tar and feather him after a rough game. Now, he's Larry Robinson 2.0?? JK is fine were he's at, and so are the habs, we'll be ok without him.

Every prospect ranking after the draft had Michkov top 5 and DR somewhere in the 20s range, probably even higher now. Before the draft everyone was hesitant on how long he would take to get here (as if we were going for the cup in the first 3 years loll) so we could have waited. It was a major f up, just think of where we'd be with him in the lineup. Slaf sucking wouldn't sting as much, and we'd have our top line set. Could have even traded Slaf like a Cutter type deal.
NOBODY had Reinbacher in the 20's. He was the highest rated d probably 5th - 7th.

Sens give up 13 sog and still lose :slaugh:

Their top goal scorer is some depth guy signed for league minimum. 👏

At least they are not the Sabres :sarcasm:

Adam Gaudette. He came up with Vancouver. During the Covid season, he was anti-vax and was blamed for giving practically the entire Canucks team Covid. Lol

I think he was gone that summer.

We might have to put Michkov talks on hold....Shane Wright is coming....lollll

He's also shooting at like 42% over those games. Totally sustainable hot streak.

But good for him. Never wanted him. Never will.
I wanted him. But that doesn’t mean much.

I’m happy we’ve got Slaf. But it’s so early, I’ve been saying since the beginning that we probably won’t know for years. Not worried about Slaf long term. We’ve seen what he can do. It’s normal for prospects to take a step back and forward.

Regardless, I now believe we got the best player in that draft with Lane Hutson.

So...what about Wright again?

if we had picked Wright after 6 months there would have been a meltdown here as soon as Slaf scored 5 goals alongside Jack Hugues, pitckforks, trade him away and move on to the next draft and repeat.

Now he has a 40% shoothing % in his last 8 games and you're back at the Slaf pick, etc. Myself I never called him a bust because it's too early to tell, I'm fine with the Slaf pick even if right now he plays like an ass and is clueless on how to do a D-zone breakout.

Some people interpret this as meaning "HuGo can't do wrong". NO, it's just that for both praise or blame it's too early to say. Of course the fun is in speculating and trying to predict so it's fine that we debate this here but it's all speculation.

My own opinion: I don't expect HuGo to pick the best player each time, I expect a playoff team with at least 1 Conference final before Suzuki's contract is up. I don't care how they get there, draft, trade, luck.

Right now the lack of a 2nd top6 C is impairing the development of Slaf, we don't have a C for Laine and our supposed "strong young D core" seems more like a mirage then anything as beyond Guhle & Hutson no one is a confirmed core top4 D.

I remember Richer playing some games with Skrudland as his C, seems like we're still there after 30 years. This team needed a Celebrini much more then a euro power forward but that's how things happened.

He didn’t improve between draft and injury. Certainly not notably. His draft year was better.

Wright / Slaf - we’ll see.

Michkov / Rein - we already know. Michkov has answered most of those “question marks”.
