HF Habs: Out Of Town Thread: 2023-2024 season

Said it more than once the Sens will never win with Chabot as their supposed #1 Dman.
I hope this lesson is learned by us with a player I won't name because I'm turning over a new leaf.

Surely they've learned their lesson and will go for a well-rounded defenseman at the draft and not a pure-offense Dman... :sarcasm:

Utah is beautiful in terms of geography, but SLC is not an enticing city to visit. NBA had the All-Star game there and Barkley and Shaq were just ripping it the entire time

I’d imagine after Winnipeg, it would be the least desirable place for an athlete to live in the league.

Have to agree with you. Anytime there's a Conference there, I try to avoid it. Seeing it once is fine, but yeah, there's nothing to do in the city and the food is meh.

The food was terrible.

We went to the big party at the conference where they had the 'best food trucks in SLC' and we got to try a bunch of them and it was all very mediocre.

If you’re insistent on going to a middling metro market like Salt Lake City, why not Milwaukee instead? Maybe the Blackhawks would be against it, but it’s bigger than SLC and has a clear passion for sports, including hockey. The city is cooler, it has very obvious regional rival potential.

Portland, hell even Kansas City, why not Houston?

There's so many better options.. it's just cause Ryan Smith laid off a bunch of his workers at Qualtrics and wants to spend his savings on a new toy.

Makes sense, but if there's no owner, or owners with money to bring the team...

Houston will get one, they were talk to have a franchise before the Coyotes to SLC rumors started in January.

The prospective owner for a Houston franchise is Tilman Fertitta (the owner of the Houston Rockets) . He went public this February and wasn't overly enthusiastic :

We are talking to the NHL, but it’s got to be good for both of us,” Fertitta said during an interview with Bloomberg News in Houston on Tuesday. “We just know that when there’s a concert downtown, how it activates downtown, we know what the Astros do for downtown, we know what even soccer does for downtown.”
My guess is he doesn't like the price for an expansion franchise, which should be around the 1B+ mark.

He also made recent comments yesterday (10th April) :
"We would like to work to get an NHL team in Houston — I'm working on it," Fertitta said.

Barkley still takes SLC women over those from San Antonio

Utah is spectacular,so much to see and do. The Bonneville salt flats are great for racing enthusiasts and outdoors-men with superb skiing. SLC has tremendous restaurants and is one of the cleaner, safer cities in the United States, well worth a trip there.
