What are you talking about? John MacLean retired from hockey, worked as an assistant coach under Burns, Robinson, Julien, and Sutter and came back years later to work as an analyst for MSG network.

That is the only memory of John I have. :sarcasm:

Dont forget he was head coach in Albany

Well the one thing about Boucher is if he was talking to Toronto then he is obviously on board with a bit of a rebuild process.

I could see him be amenable to any process a team wanted as long as he was given another crack at an NHL head coaching gig. That's how I'd be if I were in his situation anyway.

If anyone here loves Lemaire, you need to take his opinion on Boucher as close to gospel. He said he's the smartest guy in coaching at the moment.

Well I'm old so Lemaire is definitely gospel to me.

I'm not too far behind ya there.

I watched the Nilan Documentary on Netflix, the fact that Lemaire turned Nilan into a 30 goal scorer is borderline divine.

Correction, 21 goal scorer (Nilan).

I hope Shero DOESN'T get Disco Dan, it would oh so cliche of him. Unless, he and Disco Dan channel the Blues Brothers and get the band back together ie Crosby and Malkin.

Even if the smartest is a slight exaggeration or a debatable opinion, I did get the impression that Boucher was a smart guy. I don't think being a dolt is likely to be his downfall; probably outsmarting himself is more likely to be his undoing. Also, possibly devising a system that would be too hard for some or many of his players to understand or play could be an issue, but if he could use his smarts to design an appropriate system that won't confuse our young defense or expose the lack of skill in our aged forward corps, that could be very good. At least he can always call on Jacques Lemaire for advice:D

Boucher system irked alot of the other coaches, notably Laviolette. He did manage to make Chicken Salad out of Chicken @@@@ there for a bit.

An important quality for a Devils coach, and I see it as a positive if Boucher could irk other coaches with his system, because it means that they didn't have an answer for it. :naughty:

I want see what coaching staff has the nerve to pop off to Boucher and Stevens if there both on the Devils bench next season. One looks like hit man while the other is a madman.
