loved him in SJ, but his time in Toronto is a blemish. of course, it was Toronto...so how much of the blame should really fall on him?

personally I'm warming up to Bylsma...it looks like it's going to happen anyway

What's really funny about Wilson's time in Toronto, is that the Leafs were a really strong team that was absolutely sunk by Toskal/Gustavsson/the ghost of JS Giguere. In trying to "rebuild" their team, they hired Carlyle and got the exact opposite results. I'd be ok with Wilson, but I feel like this team is in desperate need of someone outside the "old boys club."

I have seen rumors where he wants some gm responsibility. Whether that be a GM job or assistant gm, not sure if true. Regardless, I see him being a great fit in San Jose or Philly

Forget wanting GM duties, alot of fans here mocked LL for being a GM/Manager, Babcock can posture and in the end eat a bag of something Louie CK suggests.

I can't see Babcock in Philly at all. Snider is Meddlesome and he has Clarke/Holmgren/Hextall Hydra there.

Plus I doubt he rids of Hextall.

The price of Babcock is a third rounder, who owes a third rounder for Zidlicky?

If I hated the Sharks, that would be cool if we could work out a deal with DeBoer for McLellan. Both have a year remaining on their current deals. Maybe we could consider it a wash and no need to trade a pick?

After hearing some stories, I don't blame Tmac as much as I used to. He does annoying things sometimes, but not to the extent of Pete. I blame Doug Wilson at this point.

I would welcome Todd McLellan because he might be the best we can do right now.

I don't think we're getting Babcock.

I would absolutely go up a wall if San Jose hired DeBoer though.

Before granting permission to talk to other teams Babcock turned down #RedWings multi yr deal that would made him highest paid in the #NHL

Interesting.

Think is if this is true. What stops teams from telling the Wings to stuff it and wait until his contract officially expires?

Afraid he changes his mind or someone ups their offer in the interim?

Deboer isnt a bad coach with the right team.

There is a reason around the NHL he was well liked and talked up during his enitre time here. I said it after he was fired and i will say it now. He will be an NHL head coach this season.

yeah seriously. I mean, deboer has his flaws, but so does every coach out there. oh and breaking news...coaches can adapt their style based on prior learnings. honestly, I'm shocked more GM's don't consult these boards before simply expressing interest in a coach.

Deboer got fired in New Jersey for basically the same reasons he did in Florida

he is stubborn or just not smart enough to adapt his teams style of play.

Shero and ownership might be looking to make a huge splash. Hiring the highest paid coach ever is one way to do it.

Not sure if it would be the right move, or if he would even come here...but it might be along their line of thinking.

Bolded. Perhaps they'll make a statement about how much they're willing to invest in the team.

well, if Detroit REALLY offered him the most money, I think we can all see that money isnt the only factor for him....

He is on record saying he doesn't want a project. There aren't bigger projects then Edmonton and Buffalo.

He also made comments about Datsyuk and Zetterberg getting old and wondering what young stars would replace them. So he could go into Edmonton, mold McDavid, Hall, Eberle, Yakupov, Klefbom, Nurse, etc. into winners and be what everybody thought the Pens would be.

Ultimately only Babcock knows what he wants though. He could just be playing the market to see what shakes out. He's that UFA that knows this is his best chance to ring the bell and get what he wants.

Could take years because of how many issues Edmonton still has. One draft isn't going to fix years of mismanagement.

Don't see one player changing things or making them attractive.

What issues are not fixable? They have two really good center with Mcdavid and RNH. They have a top 10 and probably top 5 LW in Hall. Another good point producer in eberle. Klefbom and nurse are both up and coming young d and they have significant assets where they can get help to fix their defensive issues and goaltending.

I think you're being pretty biased if you say Edmonton is years away but the Devils are in a good situation.

Wouldn't be surprised at all of Edmonton makes the playoffs again before we do
