Was also at the game. Nothing wrong with the NASL. It is now 3 games out of 4 that the Fury have really been hammered by terrible officiating. The penalty call against Ottawa was horrendous. The non-call for Ottawa was even worse. That ball goes in if it doesnt hit his hand.

Worst loss in team history - not score-wise, but in terms of the momentous nature of the game and the way they lost it.

Thought it bizarre people were angry with the reffing - one penalty call for the fury makes it what, 3-2 Edmonton? That's still an unacceptable result at home. Could've been 4-1 had Peiser not made a great save on Laing's pen.

All in all, that was the worst eight minutes in club history.

The missed penalty call happened when the score was 2-1 it was a sure goal before he deflects the ball off the post. How can you not be upset? it would change the game completely. Likely ends 2-2. All they would need is 1-0 victory in edmonton

I went to the Minnesota game, having an LCBO right next to the arena is just asking for for me to sneak in beers.

And then refilling at halftime.

Doesn't end 2-2 with Laing on the pitch. He was too much pace for our defence to handle - the balance of the game totally changed after he came on in the 59th.

His evening in half an hour:

- Misses penalty four minutes after coming on.
- Almost scores from 25 yards out on 66th free kick.
- Scores in the 88th, creating turnover with speed.
- 95th: paces down wing past Richter, crosses perfectly for Ameobi. (Falvey standing still on goal lol)

The penalty call against Richter wasn't 'horrendous', it was the right call according to the textbook. Yes, he was blocking his face, but the ball was still directed by his forearm: that's a penalty by definition. Besides, Peiser saved it so it didn't affect the outcome of the game.

Yes because Laing would of certainly somehow willed his team to win with 5 minutes left in the game. You give him way too much credit. Yes he moved his hands towards the ball but it was not in the intention to play the ball with his hands. Therefore it should not be a handball. To say it's textbook is wrong. There was no deliberate action.

Fury fall 3-1 to a better Fort Lauderdale team.

Sloppy finishing is costing this team big early in the season.

Also, an inability to deal with pace.

Attendance 3023

Not a good crowd and not a good game. Not sure what Fury's formation was 4-3-2-1 or 4-2-3-1, but Fury were outnumbered all the time Strikers played a normal 4-4-2, which meant Heinneman was outnumbered 4-1 all game, yet Fury's midfield which outnumered the strikers 5-4 never controlled it and Fury's defence outnumbered strikers forwards 4-2 but it seemed Strikers were always in space and out hustling Fury's defence.
The game may have been different if Paulo's shot in 2nd min. had gone in instead of hitting crossbar. It seemed Fury were always 2nd best, and it could be a long season.
Edmonton is the next game for Fury in Amway cup and then the Cosmos next saturday and then Tampa, 2 of the top teams in the league.

Keep in mind Atlanta's usually in the 2500-3500 range, they just had the Raul show (NY Cosmos) in town tonight.

Still, yikes. That's a Carleton-esque number from last season. :help:

It's been a very very long time since Ottawa was last place in attendance in this league in any given week.

I think this has a lot to do with improvements across the league (new stadia, better marketing, more star players) than anything else, but it's clear we're starting to fall behind.

No were not Atlanta is avg around 2500 and Edmonton is avg just above 2.000 if you look around the league there are some teams that the league should be worried about but Ottawa is not one of them.

Fury FC Head Coach Marc Dos Santos has received a 1-match suspension following the opening leg of the Amway Canadian Championship.

"It's never good to be out for a game. I just wanted to defend our group and the Club. We have to stand for what we believe in, but I should of been more careful." - Marc Dos Santos.

Martin Nash will handle the coaching duties for Wednesday's return leg at Clarke Field in Edmonton.

The attendance for last game was concerning for sure. Dont remember a single game at TD last year with that few people.

NASL really kinda screwed Ottawa with all these home games in April.

Cool spring with the Sens in the play offs did not help but there next home game looks like it will be a solid crowd.

This. Weird schedule. Also I'd like to see more marketing effort outside of immediately at Lansdowne. Some bus ads and big billboards around downtown would do wonders.

Also can someone please tell the TSN 1200 guys that hockey season is over....for crying out loud they were reduced to analyzing the game day schedule for the next round.... So dull I had to turn it off. You mean to tell me that that is more interesting to Ottawa sports fans than MDS being sent off for calling out an official? Really??

Truly hoping you're sarcastic. At least they should talk about the Fury on game days. It would also help getting more fans interested.

Also, I'll drop by Heart and Crown (Preston I assume) to check out the game. Hopefully there will be fans there.
