Yeah but you have to go through the hassle of talking to teams about trades. Then, after you make the trades, you end up with all those extra draft picks and all the work associated to who you pick with them or who you trade for when you flip those picks.

It is more of a burden than you think. When you have no OA’s, and no picks, life is easier as an OHL GM.
My point is more in the form of, yes, we will have 2 wingers, a defence man, and a goalie. The problem is that we are going to need a center, and in order to get one, which in all likelihood will be OA, we are going to have to release 1 forward and trade another at best.

Also you can only dress 3 OA so do you sit gerrior stonehouse or Mayich.

If we need a centre, we will acquire a centre (19 year old)….

EDIT: They know they need a centre next year. If they can’t draft an Import they are comfortable with, they will acquire one early in the season, maybe even in the summer. Gardiner will hold down one and Whitehead the other. They have no other internal candidates and it is doubtful they will draft one that will play a top 9 role from the start. They already ran through all their potential internal options this year. They won’t do it again net year. They’ll make every effort early to resolve it.

I hear you and agree the best situation is to draft a center with the first draft pick. Defenceman with the second

If I am looking at Euros, I am looking for a center that is in its draft year.

If not then we need to start talking to other teams. Not sure what 19 year old we would get but it would solve issues

Imports are always a tough option for adding to fill a specific need immediately.

I’ve sort of resigned myself to draft best available and by available I mean someone that’s committed to coming. Usually that is a 17 year old. They require development so they won’t contribute right away/. I think that may be the best option in many respects.

I think we should simply keep our eyes open for a centre that comes available in the offseason or early. Hopefully it is an 18 year old.

Boyd will need to be proactive. If we go into next season with Whitehead and Gardiner as the only two centres for top 9, that will fall on him.

I’m gonna take a stab at the starting lines tonight. But, I am going to try to go with more of a less conventional view. I think they may balance out the lines a bit with a 3 in 3 on the road. It will make it easier to roll them. They no doubt will get shuffled half way through the first!

Pinelli - Kressler - Kelly
Foster - Gardiner - Gerrior
Barlas - Maillet - Stonehouse
Yanni - Whitehead - Korbler

Smyth - Mews
Mayich - Marrelli
Sirman - Mayer

I like those lines! Kelly gives a bit more size and ouff. Like the idea of keeping Gardiner, foster, gerrior together. Hopefully Stoney gels with Maillet. Will see how it goes.

Foster won't play tonight. Last game of his suspension.

Pinelli - Kressler - Kelly
Yanni- Gardiner - Gerrior
Barlas - Maillet - Stonehouse
Korbler - Whitehead - Horner

Mayer - Mews
Mayich - Marrelli
Smyth - Sirman

67's website roster still has Nelson listed. Thinking that Michelone gets the start with Nelson backup.

Forgot about that! DAMMIT!

Then I think you sub it the way you did…. Although, I would like to see Horner with Gardiner and Gerrior. Why? Just for the hell of it!

That just might work! Move Yanni down to the fourth line where he should be.

NHL Central Scouting mid-term rankings are out.

The 67’s have three on the North American Skater list:
#27 - Mews
#100 - Marrelli
#127 - Hilton

that definitely puts Mews into the 2nd round. Marrelli will likely go around the 6th round and Hilton goes undrafted.

Things obviously change and this really is only a status report but it shows how Mews has not quite lived up to expectations this year. Hopefully he can have a better second half and rise into the 1st round.

Kelly is showing a bit more these past few games so I'd like to see him get at least a few more up with the big boys, and the additional ice time that comes with it. I think there is a good player there, but just needs consistency with linemates and ice time to develop some confidence and demonstrate it.

Horner impressed me with his physical play against Kingston last weekend. Seems solidly built and unafraid of throwing his body around. His game is pretty limited, in terms of his offensive creativity and skill, but if he can complement an otherwise smallish but skilled line with some physical play, that's a big plus for the 67s. I found him to be a pretty mediocre defenseman, and that's being generous.

100% across the board with all that.

I came really close to putting Gerrior on that top line because he slid him beside Morrison last year and he was great in a top line role as a puck retriever. Looks like Cameron is trying that again.

Hilton in instead of Yanni. I had a feeling Yanni would get sent back to Jr A when Foster came back but I thought he would get this weekend. I think it will be Horner as the #8D while also being the 12th or 13th forward the rest of the way. It will be interesting to see if Hilton or Horner sit when Foster is back.

I did get Sirman and Mayer as a pairing right but I am surprised they have Mews and Marrelli together. They’ve struggled as D-Partners this year IMO.

Looks like Josh Brady dropped out of the early season rankings but not too surprising perhaps as it's probably a reflection of recent form. Hilton's size probably got him noticed initially but it may just be 2 67s that end up getting drafted unless the team has a barnstorming finish to the season!

I think Hilton comes out for Foster & than Horner comes out for Dever next weekend

Plenty to tune in for tonight. Thoughts so far:
- Mack is playing well. I was concerned seeing how long he's been out.
- Kressler-Gerior-Pinelli is a good fast line. It's comforting to see how well Kressler does on the draws
- Maillet is good on the draws too, He seems a big stable presence. Plenty of penalty kill time.
- Have the boys responded to new linemates? Gerrior certainly has; Stonehouse not so much.

Ottawa having a really tough time with the short ice. You can see how difficult it is for them to carry any speed through such a narrow neutral zone. No slingshot back passes either.

You can see how often the d-man looks ahead on the breakout and not having the same sort of options available as usual.

Ice seems really soft tonight as well. A lot of slipping and falls. Pick not gliding smooth. A lot of fishy stick handling on both sides.

It will be good to get out with a win tonight if they can nail this one down.

Lawrence!!!!!!!! Scores!!!!!!!
Yeah, but the Knights playing a bit of a league doormat tonight….

End of 2nd:
- Mack continues to hold the fort, but the boys really played well in this period
- Horner and Gardiner and (Kelly?) are a strong combination. Horner is really feisty
- haven't seen any of Korbler/Hilton/Whitehead this period
- Mailllet is ~9/13 in faceoffs. What a difference winning the draw makes. We were barely hemmed in our zone all period.
- Sirman and Mayer seem to work well together.

Horner looking pretty good on the wing.
