...never mind...I get the feeling the Sens will take Kasper if he is available.
I hope Rohrer goes before Moldenhauer.
Fingers crossed for Stonehouse... Although if he doesn't get picked, bigger chip on his shoulder next season.

Well Yzerman and detroit are patient with their prospects which is good. Question is do they want him in Sweden or Ohl. Thoughts OMG? Maybe Stevie being an Ottawa boy helps??Marco Kasper goes 8th to Detroit….
AHL is also an optionWell Yzerman and detroit are patient with their prospects which is good. Question is do they want him in Sweden or Ohl. Thoughts OMG? Maybe Stevie being an Ottawa boy helps??

We went through this dance with Sieder when Owen Sound took him back in the day when Detroit picked him. It came down to pro in Europe or the AHL. Not sure this is different, but it may be the same as well. There is always risk when you draft high end Imports at 18-19.
Can he play NHL now? No.
Can he play AHL now? Yes.
The question is whether he can develop at the AHL level? Well, considering he is touted to have a 200 foot game, you’d think he’d be better suited to develop at least one year at the Junior level. Or, stay in Europe.
I don’t think they’d draft the player without knowing he would play here instead of Europe so o wouldn’t consider Europe an option because of that.
IMO, I would lean towards him playing for the 67s.

It will be interesting to see what happens it is definitely that we will not know u until the AHL season starts whatThe 67s have a solid contact with the Austrians. They don’t draft and pray in the Import draft. They wouldn’t draft Kasper without knowing he wouldn’t return to Europe.
That isn’t quite accurate. He will go to rookie camp and probably attend the beginning of the Pro camp and then will be reassigned. If he is reassigned to AHL, he will likely stay there but I think out of the NHL camp he will be reassigned directly to Ottawa. It is rare that players on the OHL radar get assigned to AHL. It’s not like they will send him to the AHL to “make the team.” It isn’t about making the team for prospects at 18 years old. It is about development. Detroit will have a development plan for him well before training camp and Detroit will follow it. Even the NHL camp is probably meaningless unless he comes out and forces their hands to keep him there. It will be interesting to see what happens it is definitely that we will not know u until the AHL season starts what

GR is an offensive black hole under Ben Simon. Keep him far away from that team until they change coaches. Stevie seems to love the way guys are developing in Europe so I'd be shocked if Kasper is in NA next season. The detroit news had this bombshell
Kasper is expected to stay in Rogle next season, playing with Wings prospects William Wallinder and Theodor Niederbach.

Red Wings draft center Marco Kasper with No. 8 pick: 'We have high hopes for him'
NHL Central Scouting had center Marco Kasper, who played in Sweden last season, ranked as the fifth-highest player coming out of Europe.www.detroitnews.com
This could be very interesting.
Boyd is going to have to do some selling to the red wings.
Grand Rapids could also use him so I think he will be given the chance to play there unless Boyd can make a HUGE IMPACT
Ya, thats pretty much the same news that came out after the drafted Sieder as well. The detroit news had this bombshell

I could see them rolling the dice given the lack of Russian skaters eligible. And to be fair, Its probably a smart one given the connection they have with the AGM. But Detroit holds the cards, not Ottawa, and only based on how Detroit operates, they really don't seem apt to send players to the CHL.I guess it will come down to whether Detroit signs him or not. If he remains unsigned and doesn’t want to play in Europe, he doesn’t have to.
Again, like I said previously, I cannot see the 67‘s rolling the dice on this pick. That is unless they had a potential backup trade worked out for another impact Import.
I think we need to keep in mind how well two previous Austrians have developed in the 67’s system. I think that carries a lot of weight, especially if Kasper had already decided coming to North America was a better option for his development.
Still a lot of variables in this scenario.

Considering they traded a viable Import to be allowed to make the pick, I highly doubt they took a player they had not spoken to just on the off chance they may score a coup. That has not been the way Ottawa works in the Import Draft in the past. Typically they make a pick and player reports almost 100%. The only variance to that was Simontaival because of the Covid issues and uncertainty of the league starting (and it didn’t).
I cannot see a situation where the player did not agree to report at least based on advisement of the NHL team. AKA…”If I am unsigned by my NHL Club, I want to play OHL with Ottawa as opposed to playing pro in Sweden.
You also need to remember that both Marco Rossi and Vincenz Rohrer are both Austrian so it is highly likely they all had spoken and Kasper was urged to play in Ottawa for development purposes based on the references from his fellow Austrians.
No.All this to say that it is going to be an interesting off-season and training camp.
If he does not report can Ottawa bring in an undrafted Euro
