Good character guy but he's strictly an AHL guy. He's not skilled enough to be be effective in the NHL at his size. W trade for Ottawa though.

Grier giveth, Grier taketh away. I don't understand the logic here other than Ostapchuk is big boi.

I'm pretty sure if Grier could clone a young version of himself, he'd fill the roster with himself.

Ostapchuk will be useful down the line.

Good character guy, moves really well, physical, does it all. I like the Nick Paul comparisons in the thread.

I thought Zetterlund was worth more than this - I think he is an amazing add for the Sens.

At least my impressions are that he's a gritty drag your teammates into the battle type of guy, who can play with talent around him.

Big clue here from Claude Lemieux (Zetterlund's agent). Probably Grier didn't like committing too much to a guy who will probably stabilize as a 3rd line guy. Playing above his station right now and riding high PDO. Doesn't mean I like it at all. Just trying to understand what the F happened.

Yeah this makes sense, SJ is just starting the rebuild, locking up this player might not make sense for SJ now so they moved him.

I don't love it as a sharks fan as Zetterlund I felt could have gotten more but not overly upset like some others. We don't know what his contract demands were. On a winning team, Zetterlund is a really good 3rd line winger that can fill in line 2 if needed but shouldnt be relied on as a permanent top 6. On the sharks he was playing as a top 6 the entire time and maybe was asking for top 6 money or more, we don't know. If it was a case of he wanted long term for high aav, then MG made the correct move trading him.

? I'm not sure mike grier has much in common with ostapchuk as a player
Ostapchuk plays a similar power-forward, two-way role to Grier but has a bit more speed and offensive potential. If Ostapchuk carves out a long NHL career, he could be a more modern version of Grier—perhaps with a bit more offensive ceiling.

Level headed response that I come to expect from you. You are right on the money here.
