The Oilers at least won the Cup the year after they traded away Gretzky. The Sens would be lucky to sniff 30 wins this year.

Not arguing sens will be a bottom feeder but team success after a shit trade doesn't mean squat. Point remains this is the worst trade since the lockout. Dorions is a f***ing joke.

Shades of Roy to Avs. Just insane they didn't get one of Meier, Hertl or Dell. I feel really bad for all Sens fans and EK, I truly believe he wanted to be a lifer, this just reeks of Ballard's shenanigans with Sittler.

tbh its not that bad considering its an expiring deal. Balcers and norris are decent prospects. One is a 1st rounder and the other is developing nicely. Then they get another first and 2nd round pick condition that could turn into another 1st. Thats 3 first rounders for a rebuilding team. Ottowa is in better shape than montreal, especially if they can get jack hughes.
How is Ottawa going to get jack Hughes when the avs have their first round pick?

Why? Were the Sens planning on competing for a cup in between now and 2020? Who cares what conference he goes to if it's as a rental, just get the best return possible. He's free to sign after an year with an Eastern team anyways.
I don't know, that's just what I recall them saying. I could also be misremembering.

Guys, since recent trades are the absolute indicator of defenceman value, how about this:

Nylander for Pronger/Niedermayer time-travelled from 2007. Who says no?

how do you suppose Ottawa gets Jack Hughes? They don't have a 19 1st

That... doesn't make it any better? Flip protection?
Why on earth does Ottawa need flip protection? They really think Karlsson might come back and stop their march to the Conference championship? Ottawa giving up any trade value for flip protection might be the most ludicrous part of this trade. What a mess for the Sens.

And please explain to me how they are getting Jack Hughes?

Avs second biggest winners in this deal. Sens already bad defense replaces EK with DeMelo. I don’t think there’s a phrase that can even capture that level of downgrade.

Pronger for Brewer, Lynch and Woywitka.

Except this might actually be worse.
