tbh its not that bad considering its an expiring deal. Balcers and norris are decent prospects. One is a 1st rounder and the other is developing nicely. Then they get another first and 2nd round pick condition that could turn into another 1st. Thats 3 first rounders for a rebuilding team. Ottowa is in better shape than montreal, especially if they can get jack hughes.

Well it looks like EK has refused to extend with anyone which put Ottawa in a bad spot.

It really depends on the conditional picks.

If it is potentially 3 1sts , a 2nd, Tierney, Norris and the Latvian guy for a guy who will have to be swayed by Doug Wilson first before he considers signing an extension, its not totally horrible.

As I said. If a player with 12 months left is not willing to sign an extension with another team, you are screwed regardless of how good that player is. Thats why the Sens blew it by waiting so long...
