Mark Kastelic would go top 32 in a 2019 re-draft, so that adds another first to what the Senators gave up.

Not only that, but Korpisalo was traded for a 1st and a 3rd round pick as a rental. So you're really looking at the Senators giving up three first round picks to make a lateral move in net.

Honestly, can't believe I'd ever miss Dorion this much. Great deal for the Bruins.
God I hope that is sarcasm.

Erat got Forsberg.

Forsberg was 11th overall.

Ullmark has more Vezinas than Forsberg and is therefore worth more.

That makes it a top-10 pick, which is exactly what Connor McDavid was.

Boston gave up a generational superstar for Ottawa's 4th liner and a backup.

Might be a few leaps of reasoning in this post.

Lol, why do you rile them up like that

I am not surprised that korpisalo would put up better numbers than ullmark on a much better team

At the moment is the key term there.

How are they doing for "career vezinas won" at the moment?
Unless ullmark wins it while a member of ottawa, who cares?

I love this thread , some real niche peak HFboard.

Mark Kastelic has an awesome hockey name and I love the poster who makes a post about him every single game he has , that's loyalty
This

I particularly like that people have wondered what Korpi's and Mark "Gordie" Kastelic's exploits have to do with the Ullmark extension three weeks ago, discussion briefly went to the trade thread, and has now swung back here.

Yeah, I find the peacocking of my fellow Bruins fans in here to be silly. Ullmark is a good goalie who's struggled so far. Kastelic has played well and even Korpisalo looks better so far. So what - it's a long season and trades aren't judged by the returns of the first 15 games. Just let it all play out and come back around to this when there's a significant amount of data to debate over.

First, Korpse was always going to be fine in a back up role. He demonstrated last season that he could not handle the workload of a number one.

Second, Boston is not a much better team than Ottawa. They have the same record and Ottawa just beat them while shutting them down in the 3rd period. Boston couldn't even get one shot on net.

Third, Ullmark has gotten off to a slow start but doesn't that usually happen with players on new teams? Just my opinion but I think he'll get it going and give Ottawa top 10 goaltending.

Ullmark Goals Saved Above Expected:

Not Boston: -3.8
Boston: 14.8
Boston: 42.4
Boston: 5.7
Not Boston: -3.6
Not Boston: -6.4
Not Boston: -15

So it's easier to get saves above expected while playing for contenders as opposed to perennial tire-fire teams. Truly eye-opening.

The moment I saw that Ullmark had an easy shutout from the Leafs, I knew you Sens fans would bump this thread. While trying to spin this trade as a loss for Boston, of course you guys don't bring up that Korpisalo has not let in a single goal tonight either and he costs 5M less than Ullmark next year.
Korpi gets a shutout and it was a nothing burger by sens fans. He sucks is their answer.

So you were waiting for the bump to try to spin that trade as a loss for Ottawa. Nice one. Great ambush my guy.
