Seems like a pot meet kettle.ugh, not surprised..... another brainless poster who responds with "lol" and "you Habs fans..."
another freakin 13 year old here with zero hockey knowledge who immediately changes the subject to "make fun" of another team.
More cups are won (or long playoff runs are made) with top goaltenders.
These are the goalie who played in the conference finals over the last 4 seasons:
Bobrovsky (x2), Shesterkin (x2), Vasilevskyi (x2), Oettinger (x2), Price, Sorokin, Hill, Andersen, Smith, Kuemper, Skinner.
Look at those names. Sure, a guy like Hill might go on a run once in a while. But the guys who get there, more often than not, are guys who are top 5 or top 10 goalies in the league.
that’s crazy talkI just don't see a difference between Korpisalo, Forsberg, Ullmark, Talbot, etc etc.
Disagree.... Cups were won with Darcy Kuemper and Adin Hill based on a great defence more than acutal goaltending.
Bob went from an overrated and overpaid goalie, to great when FLA implemented a more defensive system (were tied with WPG for GA last season).
Holtby won only when Barry Trotz transformed Washington into a D first system.
Cam Talbot went from horrible in Ottawa to a having very good season with LA last year. What do you think changed??
Ullmark will not come anywhere close to the numbers he put up in Boston. Its practically one extreme to the other.
And are we gonna ignore when Bobrovsky was playing like sh)t was benched for some guy named Chris dredger or whatever the hell his name is.
Well Ullmark has a better track record than Murray and Korpisalo, so yeah lol
Did you guarantee that Jim Montgomery would become Jim Montgomery after his time in Dallas?
I doubt it.
This is a self fufilling prophecy.More cups are won (or long playoff runs are made) with top goaltenders.

He does have a Vezina but Murray was a top player on back to back cup champions.
He was already a good coach in Dallas, he just had some issues that temporarily derailed his career. I think most people knew he'd have success on another team, he's a great coach.
its a catch 22.... youre not a good goalie without a good D in front of you. Why is it we never talk about great goalies on bad teams?
Ullmark isnt taking a 26th (?) place team to contenders overnight. Travis Green, Jake Sanderson and co. will play a much bigger role in that turnaround. And if Green is that good, then sure, Ullmark will have been a good investment.
yeah I clearly remember you were the one writing that way as well.Seems like a pot meet kettle.

Bobrovsky is a top 5 goalie (I still wouldn't classify him as that), BECAUSE of his playoff runs. Because frankly he's been outplayed by his backup in each of the last 2 regular seasons, and certainly hasn't been a top 5/10 goalie in the regular seasons.
If you inflate guys rankings because of deep playoff runs, then of course the list of guys making deep playoff runs will be guys you have ranked high.
And if those goalies (eg. Vasilevskiy) started his career on say.... Anaheim. Do you think he'd still be considered one of the best goalies of this era?Probably because Hasek isn't playing for Buffalo anymore. And because the handful of guys who are discernably better than the rest of the "good" goalies around the league all currently play for good teams.

I guarantee you the answer is a resounding no.
sure, the 3 seasons outside of Trotz.... was definitely a clutch goalie. To be fair, Holtbys playoff stats were always impeccable, regardless of who as coach.
Ullmark’s camp was smart to sign this while it was available. He might earn it and then no issues but he also might not perform anywhere near how he did on Bruins. Yes, he was good on a bad Sabres team. Was anyone willing to pay him anywhere near this for what he showed in Buffalo? Cross your fingers if a Sens fan I guess.
Are you 13 yourself? If not then it's a really pathetic individual who makes over 20 posts ( so far!) ridiculing a rival team's move and their fan base. Seriously what normal adult does that???ugh, not surprised..... another brainless poster who responds with "lol" and "you Habs fans..."

The market for middle stat goalies was lower. He hadn't won his Vezina. B's needed to replace Rask. The 5M he got in Boston was the going rate to steal a decent goalie at the timeUllmark’s camp was smart to sign this while it was available. Very doubtful. John Gibson was always said to be a good goalie that just couldnt flourish in ANA. Put Gibson on TB or PIT and he surely has 2 Cups today.Or maybe Anaheim would be good because they had Vasilevskyi...
The Rangers were a sub .500 team for the two seasons before Shesterkin. Then he shows up and they've been one of the best teams in the East for the last 5.
The NYR missed the playoffs for 7 straight years until Lundqvist showed up. When he became their guy, they made it 12 of 13 years.
