And now the Atlantic gets stronger yet again. f*** off
I get that Florida and Tampa are good but:

Boston - Marchand and McAvoy out half a year each and Bergeron is a UFA debating retirement, Rask just retired.

Tampa - just traded McDonagh as a cap dump

Toronto - going to lose their starter for the second year in a row and might be running Mrazek-Murray or Mrazek-Fleury.

If the Sens can get Giroux in free agency it would help push them to a playoff contender maybe as a wild card team out of the Atlantic division.

Line 1 LW Tkachuk C Norris RW Batherson
Line 2 LW Giroux C Stutzle RW DeBrincat
Line 3 LW Formenton C Pinto RW Brown
Line 4 LW Joseph C Gambrell RW Watson

1st Pair LD Chabot RD Zub
2nd Pair LD Holden RD Bernard-Docker
3rd Pair LD Sanderson RD Hamonic

Goalies:
Starter: Forsberg
Backup: Gustavsson

Scratches:
LW Kelly
LD Brannstrom
RD Zaitsev
——————————————————
G Murray - Buyout or trade
LD Del Zotto - Buried in minors or Buyout
LD Mete - Unqualified UFA

So, he got a 1st, 2nd & 3rd that's it!
Yea that’s it, 7th overall pick, the 39th overall pick, and a 2024 third-round pick.

Chicago also owns their own 38th pick in the 2nd round so they could try to package the 38th and 39th picks in a trade for move into the bottom of the 1st round this year.

So much for two 1sts and more ....

My guess teams were unwilling to offer that much considering he's 2 years away from UFA. He has a $9m QO and arbitration rights. He can easily walk himself to free agency in 2024.

So Senators risk is they might have just given up #7 pick for 2 years of Debrincat.

For now I'm definitely filing this under "I really don't have any f***ing clue of what is going on".
Might have to watch s number of takes on this to help it make some sort of sense.

Once again, just shows you how WILDLY people on HFboards overvalue superstars and think a team will have to give up every good asset in their system for them...

Trading RFA Debrincat will be easy to recoup what they paid for if he doesn't re-sign
There's no downside no matter how you put it

They’ll get value back for sure. But the 7th overall pick+ seems pretty fair for DeBrincat especially if it’s just a year of him.

he’s amazing but too 5’7 wingers on the habs? I dunno I think I stick with the center. Think he’d look good on Jersey although they probably want size aswell

Who says they won’t be able to resign him? Lots of promise in Ottawa. You’re paying for a year of him + his rights and a chance to sign him long term. No way this really backfires on the sens I hate to say

If sens are not able to sign him that is one massive overpayment for 1 year
2 years. He's signed for one more year and then is an RFA, can take a 1 year deal in arbitration to walk himself to UFA but if it's clear Ottawa can't resign him then they can just trade him at that point to recoup most if not all of what they gave up
