Not trying to be a homer but.... is this the best top 6 forward group U-25 ever in the NHL? I mean... it has to be at least since the cap era.. right?

In 2015 we had a rookie McDavid, Draisaitl, Hall, Eberle, and RNH, all 25 and under I'm pretty sure. Granted, you'd have to count Yakupov or someone in the 6th spot.

Regardless, the Sens group's looking mighty fine. Fantastic deal for you guys.

Edit: Also Draisaitl of course wasn't at the level he's at now (he had 51 points in 77 games as 2C that year) but McDavid puts that group over the top regardless I think.

Good for Ottawa! That's huge.

I think this is a win-win for everyone. High picks for Chicago and cap space they may be able to weaponize as well.

This is an insanely low return for Chicago. And they can't even be sure whoever they want will still be on the board at #7.

Dorion just owned another GM. Words that aren't said very often.
I have no idea what the Blackhawks are doing the last few years. Utterly confused.

Stop it with the undersized nonsense. That doesn't affect him in the least. He's one of the best goal scorers in the league and doesn't get abused.

Not a shot at the player; I didn't call him soft or even project that he'll be ineffective in crunchtime.

In a diversified lineup, there's only so much room for the player type. New Jersey, for example, would have had a tough time making that work. That's a drag on demand.

That's a mighty fine group as well. Didn't think of them. Thanks for answering!

Only way that this makes sense is if he was going to force his way into UFA in two years with arbitration.

Possibly, but surely there's a better way to handle it than this? Unless he's really not interested in remaining part of the organization, this seems like way early to pull the trigger for a not particularly impressive return. 7OA isn't nothing, but they had a whole year to let the pot come to a boil.

Can't help but wonder if 10 + 22 would have got it done from Anaheim.
Didn't people say that Chicago turned down an offer like this? My interpretation is that they wanted the highest first round pick they could get and that's all that mattered.
