I have to think that Weal is hurt or something, and that it wasn't just a sit Weal for the message/**** of it thing. I feel like even Sutter isn't going as far as not having a full four lines...

Thanks for the English lesson! My vocabulary has now expanded as a direct result of your work. How'd I do there?

Brown not skating led directly to a turnover, which led directly to McBain getting beat on a play, which led directly to a shot, which in turn led to a rebound, directly. Then Zibanejad's stick made direct contact with the puck, resulting in a goal.

I expect to see the mathematical proof that that is indeed direct. You might want to start with the Reimann Curvature Tensor.

How has Weal looked in the games hes been in by the way? He was a beast here in Regina playing with Eberle and carried the team hard the 2 years afterwards as well.

not bad. his first game was tough. but he hasn't had enough time on ice or the right kind of role to really play to his strengths. been anchored on a 4th line. weal was good for a point per game in ahl too. he's translated to each league, just needs more time or maybe a trade to a different system.

Nearly forgot the first part of the trip was 3 in 4 nights, too. So play 2, fly to columbus, play your 3rd in 4; take two days off then play in Pitt, Buffalo the next day, then Ottawa for 3rd in 4. That hurts. 5 in 9 with cross-country travel, heh. and lots of OT.

He pretty much just said **** the bottom six in an interview so unless that's a smokescreen yeah.

These boards are English only pls

Shore was dreadful in the circle tonight, and Mersch was playing electronic football on the first goal and made a really soft play trying to defend/block Karlsson's attempt on his goal.

the holes up front right now are on the bottom two lines, and the Senators picked them apart.

shores had a few bad nights in a row in face-off i believe.
mersch hasn't really done much.
both were minuses tonight.
maybe that's why sutter sat them in the third.

Hrm, I pretty much only get to see post game in the Kings Vision post here...

I'm sure he did the 11 and 7 on purpose and he has no confidence in Weal whatsoever, not one ****ing bit. King, Lewis, and Clifford all out, and still he won't play Weal.

Don't think that kid is long for the Kings when all three come back healthy. I think he's going on the waiver wire for sure.

On the choice to use seven defensemen:

We thought that quite honest, the last two or three games, we didn’t get much out of the bottom part of our forward lineup at all, and we just felt that Kopi, [inaudible], they both played a hell of a game for us, and they knew they were going to get played lots and they both did, but where we have the forwards slotted, the third and fourth lines haven’t given us much."

yeah. they were out there for 2 of the 3 goals in under 4 minutes. when the game gets away like that, those guys are not going to be in ideal situations for them to succeed much after that... both of them were also leaving the ice on a change when Hoffman scored the 4th goal.

There are tons of AHL players that had PPG careers all through Jr's/AHL who never had the talent to play NHL hockey.

Jordan Weal is probably one of them.

As a Kings fan you should know this by heart, Pavel Rosa ring a bell ? How about Justin Azevedo(who is good in the KHL)

Didn't Weal also get obliterated in the last game as well? There's really no true fit for Weal right now as a bottom six forward, and there's no way he'll figure in to a top six role right now, so he's kind of like Andreoff of last season where he's really just a practice player.

And that is why the promotions of two additional dmen are so puzzling. The holiday roster freeze is coming soon as well, so guess we'll have to see if anyone is playing hurt or if there is some method to this 9 defensemen madness?

Do you need to wait 24 hours before doing something else? If so, maybe the callups were to play the cap, LTIR Greene, then send Ebert at least back down for Dowd? shrug.

I agree it just makes no sense without context.

Maybe Sutter will use Forbort as a forward since he's up and bench Weal again , because you know...:shakehead

When does the Christmas roster freeze start? It ends what, a day or two after Christmas, eh? They don't give these guys much time off for Christmas, but still, I'll probably go through a little game withdrawal.

From NHL.com:

What exactly is the Holiday Roster Freeze?

It is a proviso of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement that limits the movement of players around the Christmas holiday.

Simply stated, it prevents any players on NHL active rosters or injured reserve from being traded, waived or loaned from midnight (local time) Dec. 19 until midnight (local time) on Dec. 27.

There are a couple of exceptions to this rule. Teams may sign players during the roster freeze or call up players if roster space becomes available. Also, if a player is placed on waivers before Dec. 19, he must immediately report to any team that claims him during the Holiday Roster Freeze period.

NHL clubs also can make any roster moves necessary to come into salary-cap and roster limits when removing a player from the Bona Fide Long-Term Injury/Illness Exception.

I'm thinking with Schultz called up, they can meld Forbort and him together and we can see the tallest and softest D-pairing in the NHL and have them be the 4th defensive pair.

What was the purpose of playing Forbort when he only got 3:53 of icetime? I swear Sutter can be a complete idiot when using players on the road.

Sutter:

Ok I see. So take away a forward, replace him with a defenseman that played less than Weal does in a period and play your top guys more even though it's 3/4 on the road. Got it.

i don't know rosa but of course i remember azevedo
was he given a good shot or did he go to europe?
eh jury's still out on weal imo, he's had maybe 10 games?
i think he does have the talent to play in the nhl
for e.g., he's as good as brendan gallagher
but hasn't had the opportunities/chance to develop yet
maybe he just doesnt fit the kings themselves
but it doesnt mean he can't translate with another team

yup, not pleased with Sutter's player management at all. Must be something more behind the scenes because he's not incompetent.

Kinda hoping Lewis and Clifford heal up quick.

Forbort. There's a high risk project pick that just hasn't worked out.

Yeah, not sure it would help but I hope they give clifford enough time to recover properly, he's going to end up with issues if he keeps getting his bell rung.
