exactly. KC had no choice. Both teams played to win for 55 minutes. If KC gives the ball back to Hurts, odds are they score on their last drive too. Hurts was unstoppable. Terrific game management by Mahomes - even if it was anticlimactic.
Classic game though
Chiefs fans would say that Reid is usually not the best game clock manager.

Crazed Philly fans are going to make that ref’s life miserable.
good call though imo. kind of like the equivalent of a clear, OT scoring chance in hockey

I hate how a lot of football strategy is based on time management.
It's a situational sport as opposed to the NHL and the NBA (although NBA is the worst with it ). NFL is similar to baseball, which is also situational. Baseball isn't timed obviously, but it has the same game management elements the NFL has. Just how those sports are streuctured, it's not possible to change this. You can't have players go at it without a break either, because it's not possible for human being to do this.

I've said this before, please go see an NFL game live to realize what kind of a brutal sport this is. It doesn't show on TV (and they don't want to show it as much as possible). But watching it live you see that human beings are not supposed to be hitting each other this hard. It's both awful and makes me have tremendous respoct for these guys that average just over 2 years in the league. That's what this league is - it spits you out in no time because you're body is worn down and there's too much talent in the pipeline. Casuals don't know this because the stars (QBs in particular) have far far longer careers, but thosel inemen, LBs and RBs are wrecked very quickly.

Brual sport, just horrid. But I happen to love it regardless. Nothing I can do with. myself. :innocent:

I gotta say, football is probably my 2nd favourite sport after basketball in terms of athleticism. (hockey's my favourite but I like the finesse/creativity of it the most)

I disagree they will let that go 90% of the time because the defender never turned the players hips which is usually the barometer they use unless it's a flagrant jersey grab.

I mean it's true, it's a 50/50 call and maybe a cheapo late. But there is a jersey grab and then he also turns him

Eh I will never stand the NFL commish giving the cup to the owner first. It's so disrespectful to me to the teams.
he does it because owners run the NFL. The league is a bank and owners have all the power. It's the only league where players regularly do not have guaranteed contracts - that's why there are giant, signing bonuses

I don't see NHL and NBA refs call cheapass penalties like that with less than 2 minutes left in a tied championship game.
I prefer this to the NHL's style of reffing where they burn most of the rule book in the playoffs and burn the entirety of it for late in the game/OT. Except puck over glass, of course. Refs can't apply 'judgement' on that one.
