Any news on the laker front? I know there were no trades made at the trade deadline by the lakers. I can't wait til Kobe retires. Not just because I don't care for him, but once he's gone, it's going to clear up a whole lot of cap space to sign some players that can actually help us get into the playoffs.

Does anyone know if the lakers have a first round pick this year?

Not that I'm a fan of Scott, but there aren't too many, if any coaches that can succeed with the lakers roster the past two seasons. Having said that, I'm sure the lakers knew Scott was just a fill in for these two years, and he'll likely be gone by the end of this year, and most definitely before the start of next season.

Scott's handling of the rookies has been a disaster. He knows nothing about drawing up any strategies, he completely dismisses advanced stats, and he is clueless when it comes to developing young players. He is absolutely the wrong coach for this team. If their plan was to tank hard, they've done a masterful job at that, but knowing how Jim Buss is a meddling buffoon I'm sure they'll screw up once again at the draft and in the offseason.

I heard a discussion this morning on the radio that pointed out that with the cap going up dramatically (either next year or the following year, not sure which) from like $60M to $90M due to the new TV deal, basically every team will have a ton of cap room and there won't be enough elite players available for all the teams that may want to sign them. So even though a team like the Lakers may have a ton of cap space opening up, they still will have trouble getting top guys to come here because there will be so many other options. You will also see a bunch of mid-level free agents getting stupid money.

Re: Byron Scott: while I'm not going to argue that he's done a good job, let's face it, a genetically cloned combination of Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Red Auerbach and Adolph Rupp couldn't have won 30 games with this team. There are a few members of the local sports media who seem to personally have it out for him as well (Matt Money Smith, Travis Rogers to name a couple)...

Rams have waived Chris Long (2nd overall pick), James Laurenitis, and Jared Cook. I'll just say that I'm glad Cook is gone. I've heard from several sources that Cook is a selfish player. As for the other two, I'm surprised by the move, but I can certainly understand it. We need Ogletree to come back 100% healthy, and for Donald to dominate the D-Line, like he has the first two seasons.

RG3 or Manning to the Rams?

Geez, just looked up the NFL Draft Date, and it isn't until April 28. Can't wait.

I believe this year's pick is also lottery protected. What is an urgent need is to get rid of Byron Scott, the single worst coach in Lakers history.

I believe it's only protected if it's a top 3 pick so keep Scott and his ineptitude. No point in getting more wins and losing a great pick that could help.

Scary to think. The pick is top 3 protected again next year and then unprotected for 2018. His contract has one year left so if they keep this years pick they can bring him back for next year and hope they get to keep that final top 3 protected pick and then hire someone else. If they lose this years pick the only reason not to fire him is cheapness.

2016 first round draft pick to Philadelphia
L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Philadelphia (via Phoenix) protected for selections 1-3 in 2016 and 1-3 in 2017 and unprotected in 2018

2018 first round draft pick to Orlando
If at least two years after the L.A. Lakers conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia, then the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Orlando protected for selections 1-5 in 2018 and unprotected in 2019; if the L.A. Lakers have not conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia by 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will instead convey their 2017 2nd round pick and 2018 2nd round pick to Orlando

Long/JL are too expensive for what they provide, sub par production on what could be an Elite Defense.

Still, Both were main stays on the Rams, they will have to be replaced.

It'll be hilarious when he files bankruptcy in 5 years.

And you can tell he isn't a car guy at all by that second tweet. Who the **** puts donk wheels on an 8C? Disgusting.

That is a good possibility as well that I had forgotten about. And quite sad since I only lived a mile from the campus for awhile.

I live in TO as well and CLU makes the most sense because the facility is bigger. That's where the Cowboys practiced way back in the day. Oaks Christian and is extremely nice but I think it may be a bit small?

Oaks as a campus might be bigger but the actual field area is a little smaller and if they care about traffic concerns with people watching CLU would be much simpler to handle

Does oaks even have turf? I know at the least it was grass recently

I know this is bit of a reach, but how about Lebron to the Lakers next year?

1. We all know Lebron loves being the center of attention, and what better place than the tinsel town to give him all the attention he wants
2. With Kobe gone, it'll be a challenge to his huge ego to take this trash of a team to the playoff land, which is a definitely possibility
3. Small forward has been a sore spot on the Lakers for quite some time, and who better to fulfill it than Lebron
4. I'm bettin' he's tired of being in Cleveland the past few years, and is itching to move elsewhere for a fresh start

Thoughts?
