Hilarious watching all those Cowboys fans lose their shit and wreck TVs and burn jerseys for no good reason.

Newsflash: Jerry Jones is a terrible owner and executive who, despite his inexhaustible wealth, can't manage to put together anything better than a mediocre roster. The sooner Dallas fans come to realize that, the better.

Had to look it up - Jerry Jones net worth 13B. Rob Walton 59B. That’s how dirty filthy rich our new owners are……….Jerry Jones is nothing but an annoying pimple on Rob Walton’s a$$

Yep Helton didn't get in, but there's a good chance he'll be in next year with Beltre being the only guy that's a shoe-in (IMO) for first ballot guys.

Is Helton even hall of fame worthy? He had a fantastic 5ish years where he was one of the best players in the league... but his career numbers are not something that gets typical inclusion ('only' 2500 hits, 350 home runs) despite playing at Coors, only a 5 time all star, and a 3 time golden glove winner. His case is basically the same as Jeff Kent who, IMO, is not close to a HoF guy.

FTR Rolen making it in is a joke to me.

I get from a statistical standpoint he probably shouldn't get in, but I hope he does. This isn't a Gradishar-in-Canton deal, I'm not angry if he doesn't make it, but I'm sure some players who were worse have made it in eventually.

Just FYI, Rolen's career WAR is something like 70, which is considered HOF-worthy. Helton's is around 61.

I am glad I am not the only one that thinks this way. He did have some great years for sure, but I always felt he was a bit overrated as a player in Colorado. The last 5 plus years of his career were pretty bland at best IMO.

It just seems like a pretty low bar to me with Rolan. He was a very good player, but I'm not sure he was ever the best player on any team he ever played for. I think there are worse players in the Hall of Fame, but sends more of the signal it is Hall of Very Good instead. Or maybe the point is that he was one of the better players of the era where no direct tie could be made to steroids.

Also, I know why it has happened, but the fact that Bonds isn't in the HoF is a travesty. He's a top 10 (maybe 5) baseball player of all time, and yeah he took steroids (along with pretty much any great player of the era), but even prior to his juice... he was on his way to clearly being top 20.

He deserves legendary status among Rockies faithful for that 2007 run alone. It was literally a walkoff HR by him that sparked it in the first place. He kept a poorly-run franchise afloat far, far longer than it should have. Age caught up to him like it does every player, but he was a fantastic player for a long time.

I also loved the fact that he slammed the idiots in the front office and ownership whenever he got the chance. He had no love for those guys.

I agree with everything above but don't feel its HOF worthy. It does not matter though as I don't get a vote. :)

If Payton is wise he will convince Jerry Jones to fire McCarthy and hire him.

I would have said Chargers, but no chance Payton goes there. That cheap ass ownership would not do what Payton wants and would tell him "make it work" with whatever he's got. Even though they have stupid talent on the roster, it wouldn't work.

Fair enough, I certainly ain't making it a hill I'll die on, just that this is a rare instance where the overrating of a player is well-justified amongst the fanbase.

It'd be awesome if a lifelong Rockie got in, he's most definitely the most worthy among ex-players who aren't yet in. I'm guessing Arenado, once he hangs them up, will make it in. Won't be a first ballot guy but eventually he'll get the votes.

Is this the thread where I was wrong about the broncos getting the best coach, because we have the richest owner. doh

According to Cowherd, it sounds like Payton isn't sure about the Broncos. Specifically, Payton is seesawing on working with Wilson.

Payton has 2 more seasons left on his NO deal. He does a good job on TV. If it’s not the ideal fit then he can always circle back next year.

I was taking a lot of heat when I claimed denver was not a job where a lot of the top guys would want to go..mainly because of Wilson. Payton was supposed gonna interview with the broncos first, ended up his second interview. We were supposed to have an second interview with him tues(?) but didn’t get the interview because of the cardinals interview. That’s on Thursday. Some unnamed team official from a nfl team thinks russel is cooked. I think Payton is leveraging FOX and or a better situation. We know harbaugh took us for a ride

I’m guessing it’s going to to be DeMeco Ryans
I think it’s gonna be shame. Simply because they need to get more from Wilson. Wether that’s possible or not.

All 3 you mentioned should be in the Hall of Fame. Although I could go either way with Kent but Rolen and Helton deserve to be in.

A lot to hate about this.

1) first time head coach
2) yet another defensive guy
3) a defensive guy that runs a different scheme (4-3) which means we will likely convert which means the defense goes through a transition and possibly a step back
4) Evero (3-4) definitely gone under this scenario. Probably was gone anyways but this hire is nail in the coffin.
5) I guess Shaw as OC? Meh. His west coast style will fit but his offenses really tailed off in the end at Stanford.

I like him as a coach for someone just not the Broncos right now for all you just listed

Just seems like a low bar to me... I guess like Neely in the Hockey HoF.

I was going to ask a bit ago what people here thought of Demeco Ryans. The dude’s a badass for sure.

I was actually surprised when Rolen got in. Helton is a slight notch lower in my book. The place is starving for nominees at the moment, though.
