I'm still sad that Peyton decided not to fire him. Hopefully Peyton is the one that's actually in control and Paton is just a puppet that handles the paperwork.
Paton and Vance are being kept as scapegoats so Sean has somebody to fire and blame when next season goes off the rails.

Oh. This is interesting.

And yes I'm linking to an SI article. Either a fake person typed it up, or a person typed it up and then got laid off.

That sure looks like Paton's power has gotten greatly diminished if he ain't the one running the drafts, which could actually be a bad thing. Drafting of late hasn't been terrible (Judge Jeudy was taken the year before he took over). PS2 and Mims have been decent finds.

My little nephew's 8th birthday is next week and he said he only wants sports tickets as gifts. So proud of the little guy, ha.

Our family already has Mammoth season seats but between my parents, my brother, and myself we got him:
2 Nuggets games
1 Avalanche game
1 Rapids game

Hopefully the other relatives come through with another Avs game and maybe a Rockies game for the kid. I can remember being his age and absolutely idolizing Sakic, Elway, Walker, and McDyess.

Dude you gotta hit up some DU Hockey - that’s easily the best bang for your buck ticket in this town
They're really not that much cheaper than Avs or Nuggets seats and they're more expensive than Rockies, Mammoth, and Rapids tickets. Plus college sports aren't even on the kid's radar. I'm hoping he grows out of soccer fandom before I have to take him to too many games but I'll grin and bear it if that's what he wants.

Before ticketbastard fees I paid 26 bucks a pop for Nugs seats, 38 bucks for Avs, 11 bucks for Rapids, and my season seats for the Mammoth are like 17 bucks a head to sit in the lower bowl per game. Rockpile seats are even less. DU seats start at 19 before fees.

DU raised prices a lot last year and even more this year. I used to get primo seats for about $40 a game, those are now $90. Plus the schedule changing in NCHC means a lot of lame games. I mean really charging regular price for a middle of the season exhibition game? Anyways I still go but once or twice, used to go half season.

How did you get those prices for games? Even before fees I don't see games going for that little too often, even with member specials.

The Rapids tickets were an email flash sale but the other games I literally just went through the normal ticket links on the website, sorted by price, and bought the cheapest ones. Weekday games and games against garbage teams are much cheaper than weekend games or games against popular/good teams. Look for them midweek Wizards games.

Ok makes sense. And yeah 26 before fees is like 36 total. I know those midweek games are good for supply. I went to one for the Nuggets earlier last season and was shocked to see thousands of empty seats on the ends. TV and lighting does a good job of covering it up. Rapids have no such tricks to go to.

The Broncos have drafted pretty well, given they traded away lots of 1st/2nd round picks to get a QB and a coach. Over the past 3 years, they've found some solid players, after the 1st round.

The NBA should have simply known that he doesn't play games in Denver. Duh.

Yeah I feel like folks don’t give Paton credit for this. Their drafting in the middle rounds def has been pretty solid lately. For top picks Surtain was a solid pick. Jeudy was a flop. I think Patons fatal mistakes tho were Gregory and Russ. In general the pro scouting for the Broncos seems like it’s pretty bad but the college scouting is probably above average. I think it’s gonna be interesting to see what Payton’s gonna do in future drafts. The last regime placed zero value on the line whereas Payton historically has spent a lot of draft capital there. I think the run of always being overloaded at OLB and WR may change as well.

Paton doesn’t get the blame for Jeudy—he was drafted before Paton was hired.

Can we just forget to let Zeke Nnaji get back on the plane to Denver?
They really do need to get a worthwhile backup center at the deadline this year.
