They really do need to get a worthwhile backup center at the deadline this year.
They really don't. Last year Aaron Gordon played backup center in the playoffs and it completely fixed our bench that sucked all year. That's what we'll do again. We just need DJ to get us through the rest of the regular season.

And it's not like we really could find a worthwhile replacement anyway. Our cap situation is pretty tough and we don't have any contracts that can get us a reasonable return. Nobody is going to gift us an upgrade for Zeke, DJ and Holiday are on vet minimum deals, and Reggie/CB/Watson are all solidly in the rotation.

Jordan being out last night really made things 10x worse. I dunno what they should do with Zeke at this point but it’s almost like he’s simply a deadweight contract now. He did absolutely zero to earn his deal and now that he’s got it, it seems like he’s content to do nothing and just fall back to the 11th/12th man on the bench. Can’t stand him as a player and it feels like we are gonna have to deal a 2nd rnd pick to someone just to take him off our roster.

I really wanna see more of Huff but I guess he hasn’t earned it yet. I’m with ya on wanting a legit backup C. If Jordan was just 3-4 yrs younger he’d be perfect. I think this might finally be the year though that they draft a big because they’re loaded at the wing spots.

Super curious to see what happens to Eric Bienemy. Shut out yet again from a coaching job and Dan Quinn just got the Washington gig. Feels like Bienemy is running out of chances.

As if there was a chance to begin with. Seems ridiculous he keeps getting passed over and clearly inferior recycled names get the nod over him.

So...can someone who knows more about Formula One explain to me why so many people are losing their GD minds over Broncos minority owner Lewis Hamilton jumping ship from Mercedes Benz to Ferrari?

Hamilton just recently re-signed and stated he had no intentions going anywhere. In Broncos terms it would be like Elway in the prime of his career opting out of his contract and playing for the Raiders.

Well Hamilton might be the best driver out there and hasn't been winning only because Red Bull cars are just killing it. So this is basically Hamilton implying he might be more competitive in Ferraris than MBs.

They're all just secretly so upset they have to pretend F1 isn't boring.

Verstappen is a league above everyone else. Red Bull or not... he's going to be winning the majority of races for as long as he wants to stay in F1.

I'm not really a Formula One expert, but judging from the reactions I've seen this is equivalent to me ordering tea instead of coffee at breakfast. It's just not something that is done under anything approaching normal circumstances.

No injury, no Simmons, no Harden, no Doc to blame. Just the "MVP"
Didn’t he blame it on all of his teammates last year and said they didn’t do enough, like 2 weeks after he won “the most valuable player”? Pure class from this guy. Everybody and everything is not great….except for him.

Yes.

Last year he blamed "everyone but me and James (Harden)" even though Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey were, by far, the Sixers' two best players in game 7

The previous year he blamed James Harden directly and that pissed Harden off, which is why he avoided throwing him under the bus last year.

The year before that he blamed Ben Simmons for not taking that layup against the Hawks. What he doesn't mention is that he himself had 8 turnovers in game 6 and 8 turnovers in game 7 and got shut down in clutch time by Danilo freaking Gallinari of all people.

Hamiltons 2 year contract extension at Mercedes last summer had an opt-out clause after a year. He's just exercising that. He's been with Mercedes for like 13 years. Together they were the most successful and dominant constructor/driver combo of all time. But Mercedes have been way behind the pace of Red Bull for years now. Ferrari have been making relatively good inroads on closing the gap to Red Bull. Plus they are a historic team. Hamilton has already driven for two of the other renowned teams in McLaren and Mercedes, I'm sure Ferrari was always a dream from a kid as it is for a lot of F1 drivers. I don't see what he has done as necessarily bad. Plans change, and he's doing it by the letter of his contract. I've always been a big Hamilton fan, so best of luck to him. He's the GOAT.

Doesn't Beinemy have a reputation of being a hard ass and players don't exactly vibe with him?

I think diversity matters, but I also think there has got to be a legitimate football reason this guy keeps getting passed over for HC positions.

I know he’s abrasive to say the least. I remember when I was going to Metro, I worked briefly for the paper at UCD next door and Marcus Houston and Craig Ochs were hotshot recruits for CU at the time, I was assigned to interview them and one other guy whose name I forget—not important.

Anyway, Ochs and the other guy were completely nice and cool and all, but Houston was beyond cool. It was only a conversation that lasted maybe half an hour at most but he could not have been more kind. Even called me back exactly when he said he would because he was busy with something the first time I called. Apparently he also mowed lawns in the neighborhood growing up to fund a program benefiting inner city kids or something like that. Class act.

So, what’s the point of this story? Gary Barnett (a true grade-A asshole if there ever was one) was head coach and Eric Bienemy was Offensive Coordinator (I think) at the time. Not long after the season started Houston and his brother who also played for CU got into a huge public spat with Biememy. Apparently he was openly mocking Marcus during practices and said some things that got the whole damn family after him. Didn’t help that Ochs openly feuded with Barnett as well. Just an ugly situation all around.

So…long story long, do I think Bienemy is a great guy? HELL no. In fact he had a rep even in his playing days. I’m not really even campaigning for him to get a HC gig. But I tell ya what, no way is he a demonstrably worse person than, say, Josh McDaniels, who has inexplicably gotten two Cush head coaching jobs in the NFL despite being an insufferably arrogant asshole and grossly incompetent leader. If nothing else, I’m just curious to see what kind of head coach he’d be.

Washington is rumored to be going after Chip Kelly as an OC. Bienemy is out I guess. I’m not sure he should be a head coach……but going to the Commanders and leaving the Chiefs so that he could show what he could do without Mahomes has completely blown up in his face. Now his best prospect is maybe goin to the Patriots?!

With McDaniels, though, is he actively antagonizing players or is he just a Patriot douche? There's a difference IMO.

If you are going to verbally clash with players and have that rep, organizations might not want that. Especially if they have a younger QB.

Openly and through back channels.

His first meeting with Jay Cutler went so poorly, Jay told his agent to get him out of here.

After he purged a player a couple days later Mike Klis would have some unsourced story about how that guy was of bad character. Like the rumors about Peyton Hillis hitting on McDs wife or Brandon Marshall complaining about practicing outdoors in the cold.

Getting rid of Jay Cutler was one of the best moves in Broncos history.

Everything else McDaniels did was garbage, but Jay Cutler is a loser to the very core of his being and if we'd kept him we wouldn't have gotten Manning.
