So with the Nuggets now having a player that ranks amongst the greatest to ever play...not winning a championship should be considered abject failure, right?

If Murray isn't coming back early in the first round its probably a quick exit for the Nuggets which is fine. Lots of guys look tired like Monte and Bones, plus Jokic is but won't show it. Get everyone healthy and give them a longer break than they have had. Offseason is pretty straightforward, see if Cousins wants to stick around for cheap and maybe ask Gary if he wants to come back for a spot role for a lot less. Sign Reed if he doesnt and let the rest of the free agents go. That's 12 players provided Jeff Green doesn't retire, fillers and picks can fill the rest. Provided they all are healthy going into the playoffs a year from now I think that's your favorite for the Western Conference. Suns look good for a title this year but if they get it I don't see them being hungry enough to defend it. Warriors age is catching up to them, Utah about to be blown up. Really its Memphis and a healthy Denver teams at the top. The media outlets won't exactly be happy about that.

I feel like, somehow, the Lakers will buy their way out of trouble. They always do.

Kinda surprised the Clippers haven't really taken it to the league. I was way more hyped about Kawhi and George than I ever was on that overhyped trifecta in Brooklyn.

Kawhi hasn't played a game this season and George has missed a significant amount of time. Probably why they are where they are.

The Lakers are a joke. Rob Pelinka doesn't know how to say no to LeBron James, and what the Lakers got this season is the end result.

I've said it time and time again: when a GM doesn't listen to LeBron and simply builds a team around him instead of for him, LeBron has his most success. Once LeBron starts playing the role of GM, the teams he's been on tend to flounder.

Anyone with half a brain could have predicted the Lakers would be terrible this year based on that roster they constructed. Except for, clearly, LeBron James.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. The Broncos would never have to worry about internal cap problems with Walmart money. But will this just be a side gig for the Walton's?

Honestly I will probably feel this way about any owner at first. I don't want them to be second fiddle for these billionaire dragons that just want to sleep on their hoard all day.

I don't think there will ever be another Pat, but I want someone that at least knows what's happening with the team and will provide them with what's necessary to succeed.

Wow, stat sheet looks like Freeland just fell off a cliff.
He did. But he was great for three innings. I hope that’s just a sign of an abbreviated spring training and lockout (plus he’s missed a lot of time before that) and not an indicator of future performance.

But whatever. It’s the Rockies.

that’s all management really asks for from Freeland - by the third inning that’s when most of the fans have sucked down their second Rio margarita and are in it for the long haul.

Just was a bad inning where everything went wrong. Lots of singles up the middle and then the unforced errors with the wild pitches. I think Diaz looked terrible behind the plate too. Buehler just doesn't give the Rockies much, they couldn't afford that big inning. On a bright note Lawrence looked really solid and Goudeau was effective. Two new deep pieces of the pen that they will need badly. All in all yet another ho hum loss to the Dodgers, what's new.

Honestly I am not thrilled with Walton family ownership. Too many reminders of Stan and how the team is all about real estate to me. If the City and State don't step up and meet his expectations for the next stadium, and trust me it's coming, then what?

It's a tough racket to get into and the people who made or inherited billions aren't always well liked. Unless the winning bidders are partnered with someone who is a part of Broncos Country such as PFM or Elway, I will always wonder if fans should truly not be worried about getting screwed over like the Browns or like we are with the Altitude shenanigans.

Lakers are truly in shambles. LBJ will work his way out and Lakers get nothing for him. Davis has modest value when he plays half the games. Westbrick has zero value and considering his contract probably will have to be the featured player for years to come as they rebuild. They have probably one 1st round pick between now and 2027, that's just shocking.

Maybe they get another generational talent force his way to LA, but that's all they can hope for. Plus with tax laws and national TV coverage other teams can be the platform for a bunch of stars to come together. My guess is Houston is the next platform to use the couple of young talents they have to bring a bunch of stars together. Then maybe around 2028 or so the Lakers figure out how to be relevant again.

Speaking of Sports teams in Denver, of course Broncos are most popular team in Denver, but i've always wondered, who is 2nd most popular team in Denver?? I'll assume rockies are 4th..

But who is 2nd?

is it the Avs
or
Nuggets

IOW, which team has a bigger buzz in Denver? Nuggets or avs?

And my 2nd question,... who is more popular in Denver?? Joker, or Mackinnon??

thx

The Avs don't get a lot of respect in Denver. They are always 4th fiddle. Normally the Rockies are #2. But with Joker and the Nugs doing so well lately, it feels like the buzz around them has surpassed the Rockies. I don't know why, but Rockies fans are extremely loyal. Maybe they're masochists?

And Joker is definitely more popular than Mack.

Anytime a team in Denver is Championship level the fans jump on the wagon. So right now the Avs would be 2nd if they make it to the Cup but they would be 4th in interest if they sucked like they did for 10+ years.

Even though the Rockies suck, they still draw giant crowds and are talked about. When they went to the WS the entire state was Rockies crazy.

Nuggets have always been popular despite never making it to a championship. With Joker running the show, they are a must watch.

Broncos are top dog for the news and media no question and Broncos fans cover many states nearby Colorado.

Joker is bigger in Denver because more casual fans live in the city. If you see Jokic walking down the street, you know who it is. Most people in Denver wouldn't even recognize MacKinnon.
