Is it true that you proclaimed Keuchel couldn't be DFA'd? They were laughing at you over at Soxtalk.
I said I wasn't sure if that was correct and I saw it on another forum. I was relaying the discussion from somewhere else and bringing it to ST's attention.

BTW the discussion wasn't about that Keuchel couldn't be DFA'd but whether they would have been on the hook for the $20M option if they did so.

Yeah, that was a dumb hero attempt by Butler. Even if he had made the shot, Celtics would’ve had plenty of time to run a play, albeit with the way they were playing down the stretch the Celtics would’ve probably bricked it, too.

These are big if's because there's a lot of time to turn this around.

But if the Sox do continue to scuffle and want to sell when the time comes. I would probably suggest more of a light sell-off, like primarily the relievers. Relievers have brought in big returns at the deadline in recent years, and guys like Graveman, Kelly (if he's healthy) and Hendriks likely would be very desired.

That could double the effect in that it would free up cash for the coming winter and they could potentially allocate it towards impact players that can help them score a few runs.
The whole tear it to the studs stuff is just my anger talking.

Anyway, realistically they should be listening on Giolito and Lynn, and try to fix the rotation around Kopech/Cease in the winter.

He has the same exact reputation on Soxtalk as he does here. ALWAYS 100% PESSIMISTIC. ALWAYS f***ING WRONG. It's a running joke there, too.

You would think, at some point, he would wake the f*** up and stop. But here we are.

I strongly doubt they do anything drastic as far as selling as long as tony is the manager.

If you trade Gio and/or Lynn, then you've pretty much punted on the rebuild. They don't have young pitchers to replace them, and we've already seen JR is too cheap to sign starters near the top of the market in free agency.

They offered Wheeler a better deal than the Phillies did. His wife wanted to stay close to New Jersey.

Its not $ that is issue its Jerry being largely against giving pitchers longterm deals which I actually agree with
Would you rather he piss away $19M on trash like Garcia, Harrison and Kelly or would you rather he spend that money towards a contract for an impact pitcher?

I swear to god the amount of money Jerry pisses away on shitty players on an annual basis could be used for true impact players but 1 year deals though.

If you want to play, you have to pay.
