Sox are a dumb team, literally our players are idiots

WTF is Zavala doing there

Sox take 3-2 lead but Zavala gives Angels out and Sox go from having men on 2nd/1st no outs to having man at 1st and out

And now Lopez struggling in relief and Angles with 2 men on and no outs

Of for f***'s sake

Robert cant get to ball in CF and Zavala cant handle ball at home

4-3 Angels

Leadoff walks always seem to cross plate vs Sox

The Sox better be careful. They're 6.5 out now and the big runs against Minnesota and Cleveland are coming up soon. A bad next few weeks and this could be over.

Team is a lifeless shell of what it was in 2020. None of the fun or swag, just a bad, boring team coached by a washed up drunk.

Seems pointless to overpay for him based on 1 good season and Knicks already have a young PG with upside

Why not continue with Quickley in slot and give him more responsibility/role

Sox need a legit #1 starter here in 2022. Kopech and Cease might very well eventually reach that level but they aren’t quite there yet.

Giolito fell off a cliff, unexpectedly. Bad luck. Tough to tell exactly what happened.

Rodon was inexplicably lost without being (legitimately)replaced.

I really hope that Hahn upgrades both the rotation and the bullpen at the TDL.

There's really no reason to add to this team. Let them get healthy and let the chips fall where they may. No reason to waste valuable assets on a 3rd place team that is 6 games out of 1st and couldn't hit their way out of a wet paper bag most nights.

No dammit you gotta go for it and do anything that u can to get over the hump with this group. They can’t back down now and just settle for being average. That would only be a continuation of the ineptitude that we’ve seen. Instead of not doing enough let’s actually swing for the fences and make a splash addition to rejuvenate the season.

It's too late, bro.
This group is not the same group from 2020-21. There is no fixing it this year. 2021 is lost. Throwing prospects at a lost season is what a dumb organization does.

How is it lost we’re like 6 games back and there’s 1/2 the season remaining, including the TDL. You’re pissing away a year by not going for it and quitting on the season.

I personally don’t think we’re gonna rebound and win anything. I understand the skepticism. But you gotta at least try. There’s at least a chance however small it might seem now.

Here's the thing. If this seesaw-mediocre play is still continuing at the trading deadline, then I agree with KBS that you cant sink good prospects in to chasing a failing season.

At that point, your best chance to chase a title with this group is to pull back for the season, maybe even sell a player or two (namely the high priced bullpen arms and/or maybe Lance Lynn), and regroup for next year.

Because damnit, I don't want to trade Colson Montgomery because we're trying to patch this mess mid-season. Colson could be a star and he might not be far off. We don't need to be stupid and impatient here.

If this rough season does continue on until the end of the season, my hope is it would shock Jerry Reinsdorf in to spending some money this coming winter. Some money is coming off the books. Pollock has an option. Keuchel's money will be freed up. If you trade a guy or two at the break, that money could be freed up.

And when I say maybe Jerry will spend money. It needs to be on impact players, not utility infielders and relievers. Which means he would have to commit to more than a 2 or 3 year deal.

For targets on this team, I think starting pitching has be be a priority, along with an impact left handed bat. There are some position players getting close - Colas (assuming he isn't going crazy on us now), Montgomery and Sosa all could be impact players and not far away. But there's not much for starting pitching that is imminent. And as has been said, Giolito is getting harder to trust, while Lance Lynn is getting older.

There's still a ton of talent in this organization. If they clean up the coaching staff and allocate funds better this winter, they could totally turn this around and fast.
