Anderson great throw goes for nothing as Abreu drops ball for error putting lead off man on in 9th

Ugh

And now Abreu drops ball instead of stepping on bag for another error

2 O's on now after 2 Abreu errors

WTF Abreu!

Sox barely win...almost blew it...again...TA,Vaughan,Robert =combined 0/11 and though Abreu goes 2/3 , he again does not drive in runs....Top 4 hitters =not doing iit...not scaring any opposition...nobody in top 4 goes yard. Often enough....where is the power and the RBIs? ABreu getting dinky singles..

Too many grounder s by too many Sox batters...

When the stars do not bop ....ain't much fun.

Bullpen ....fragile under pressure...not helped by errors.

Jesse rodgers was on the score absolving tony of responsibility and pinning it on hahn. Is jerry using his influence to defend his buddy?

I think it’s both. Doesn’t have to be one or the other. Both the manager and the GM have made countless poor decisions. The roster is flawed. So is the manager.

Let's not let Jerry off the hook either. Hahn is limited in how he can spend on payroll.
Not that it would solve all the Sox problems. But imagine having either Manny Machado or
Bryce Harper on this team. Both would lead this team in WAR and fill a major hole.

IMO - TLR, Hahn/KW and Reinsdorf all have equal parts of blame here.

Durant:

Continue on winning championships and finals MVPs as part of a dynasty in Golden State?

Nahhhh I’d rather go be with Kyrie Irving and let him control my future while he takes every other game off to pray to the Flat Earth God.

Yup him too. Stupid old man ruining my baseball team.

Why does it automatically combine my posts? What button did I accidentally press?

That is bullshit

White Sox have the 7th highest payroll in MLB and it increased by more than $40M this past offseason

Jerry when he thinks Sox can win has always been generous and Sox had top 10 payrolls several years after WS win

Hahn has done a piss poor job of building team and several of his "core" have either been disappointment (Giolito), Injured (Eloy) or both (Moncada) and that is really killing Sox at this point in season. Also, Grandal has been absolutely terrible and at this point kills Sox no matter what role he is in as he is terrible at catcher and is terrible at plate so in DH spot, he is an easy out most times

And Sox failed to solve 2B issue in offseason and the OF we brought in to solve RF issue hasn't been a solution. Not only has his hitting been disappointment (Struggled much of the first two months) but he isn't good enough to play consistently in RF and has slotted to LF to cover for Eloy absence. When Eloy comes back its likely Pollack ends up the #4 OF when Engel is healthy at this point since Engel is better defensively then him

Hahns inability to find a quality RF can't be defended at this point. That is 100% on the GM

I'll never understand fighting for Billionaires.

Pointing out that claim that Sox won't spend is nonsense is fact

It's a myth at this point and its largely a result of still bitterness in media/fandom of Chicago over the Bulls breakup. Somehow Michael Jordan and his role in it is largely ignored along with Phil Jackson

Jordan's demands for ownership stake and control of roster/etc were beyond absurd and his time as owner/executive in NBA have been complete disaster

RF could have been fixed if Jerry would have signed off on Bryce Harper. It's 100% on Jerry and there is no defending it. Harper at 25M is a bargain.

The Sox are 28th in baseball in largest contract signed. Only Pittsburgh and Oakland are lower.

I blame Reinsdorf for the payroll allocation issues, not Hahn. Hahn can only offer contracts that Jerry allows him to.

I'm sure that if Hahn was allowed to spend on better players, he would.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't Harper no longer even an OF

Isn't he used as DH almost entirely now

So the RF issue would still be issue here in Chicago

Wasn’t he being considered a legit MVP candidate before getting hit by that pitch that broke his thumb?

White Sox are and always have been cheap.

You. Keep. Missing. THE POINT.

Like, c'mon man. Read between the f***ing lines:

*** Payroll went up BUT
*** They signed a stop gap 2B AND
*** They traded for a stop gap RF

Do you really not think there's a correlation here?

It's so clear to anyone paying attention that Hahn was not given the authority to invest in those positions so they could be filled internally down the road. That's how you end up pumping millions into the bullpen, because they're short term deals.

You can't keep looking at single-season payroll as proof they aren't cheap. Look at the dollars that are and aren't added long term...

Do you remember when Rick Hahn kept promising the money would be spent, while they had near league low payrolls? How much money did they save (hoard) while having crazy low payrolls during the 'rebuild years'? Two of three hundred mil maybe?

Here's the thing, however misallocated the current payroll is on utility infielders and relievers, they are 7th in baseball, which is around where a team from Chicago should be. They probably could be a tad higher, but let's say 7th is fine.

But what about spending the money they saved (hoarded)? Where did that money go? Having an expected payroll this year isn't spending past saved money. That money is somewhere and it certainly wasn't used on payroll as promised.

Honestly, if that money is ever going to spent, this offseason would be a great time to do it. I think Aaron Judge would make for a super right fielder for the Sox.
